It gives us great pleasure to offer you admission to the Ist semester of 4 year degree programme in Bachelor’s in Hotel Management (BHM) course at the Army Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology for the Academic Year 2015 – 2016. COURSE DURATION 2. The duration of the BHM Course is four years, divided into eight semesters. AFFILIATION/ APPROVAL 3. AIHM & CT is affiliated to Bangalore University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). DATE OF REPORTING 4. You will report for admission at 1000hrs on 18/19 June 2015 in formal attire with appropriate tie.(Black pant, white full sleeve shirt & tie). PAYMENT OF INSTITUTE FEES/ DEPOSITS 5. The Institute fees/ deposits as given in appendix ‘A’ should be paid in full by demand draft drawn in favour of AIHM&CT payable at Bangalore on the day of reporting for admission. Admission to the institute will not be granted till the Institute fees is paid in full. Non payment of fees by due date in subsequent 2 terms will lead to imposing of fine or withdrawal from course as per AWES Rules. INABILITY TO REPORT ON DUE DATE 6. If you are not in a position to report to this Institute on 18/19 June 2015, your parent/ guardian/ representative should report to this Institute with all original certificates and take all decisions pertaining to your admission. The fees as per the fees structure will be paid in full. Proforma of letter of authority is attached as Appendix `B’ and Appx ‘C’. Migration certificate, in case you have passed qualifying examination other than from Bangalore University. 10 copies of passport size photographs in shirt and tie. After having passed in the qualifying examination, if there is a gap between the period of college/ Institute last attended and joining AIHM & CT Bangalore, you have to submit an affidavit, executed 3 (l) (m) (n) (o) (p) before a Magistrate on a stamp paper of requisite value, as applicable, stating that you have not joined any course of studies during the said period in any other statutory University/ Institute. HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION AND MESS 10. Furnished accommodation will be made available (twin sharing basis) in the campus. Separate hostels are provided for boys and girls. All students will stay in the hostel accommodation provided. Mess for all students will be in the students mess which is being run by a contractor. DISCIPLINE 11. You are expected to conduct yourself strictly as per norms and code of conduct of this Institution specified as per AWES Rules and Regulations for Army Colleges/ Institutions Volume II of Apr 2009. If found lacking in discipline or failing to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute, disciplinary action will be taken as per procedures. Keeping two wheelers by students inside the college campus has been strictly prohibited. AMOUNT FOR IMMEDIATE PERSONAL EXPENDITURE 16. It will be the responsibility of the student to deposit cash in Bank. The students are, therefore, advised not to bring large sums of money except in the form of bank drafts approximately Rs.10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) to meet the immediate initial expenditure, for training and for various miscellaneous personal expenses. This amount will be deposited into the Students Bank account. SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDABLE WITHOUT INTEREST ON LEAVING THE INSTITUTE 17. On joining the Institute an amount of Rs 20,000/- as security deposit will be deposited together with the tuition fees and other charges. The security deposit is refundable without interest when leaving the Institute after four years. Dues if any will be deducted from the security deposit. REFUND 18. Refer appendix ‘D’ for information on refund of fees/deposits. 7 BANK FACILITIES 19. The students will be required to open an account within two days after admission to this Institute. Cash transaction is not permitted for payment of the Institute fees and the Hostel dues. LOCAL GUARDIANS 20. The students will be allowed to spend only weekends/ gazetted holidays upto 2000 hrs of the day with local guardian residing in Bangalore. For this purpose, students are required to bring a letter of consent in duplicate, duly signed by the parents/ guardian giving address with telephone / mobile no. of the local guardian. The proforma to be completed in duplicate by the parent of the student/ Local Guardian is given in Appendix `E’. The proforma should be completed and handed over to the Institute on the day of joining. Parents shall submit the personal details of permanent address for correspondence with telephone number and mobile number. ACCIDENT 21. The Institute will not be responsible for any accident to the students during their training and stay at the Institute. Any Hospitalization expenses (civil) will be born by the students. Each student will be issued with rules and regulations of the Institute. The instructions specified will be abided by the student throughout their stay in the campus. 8 RAGGING 25. Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student; Indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to causes annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher, physical or any other student; Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student; Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher; Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students. Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students; Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it; sexual abuse, homosexual assaults stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person; Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student; Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student. With or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student. 26. The Anti Ragging Committee depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti Ragging Squad, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the following punishments namely; (a) (b) (c) Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges. With holding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits. Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process. 9 (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) (j) (k) Withholding results. Debarring from representing the Institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival etc. Suspension/expulsion from the hostel. Cancellation of admission. Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
