Home Economics 101 Raise your hand if you think cold season is the pits! You can’t see me but both of my hands are raised! Some of you know that my family has had a funky FebRita’s C ruary. We have had back to back colds for the whole family and have been anv as A Word living in a state of fog, operating solely on survival mode. Sound familiar? I’m from ou Coordina r MOPS tor sure your families have been struck by a nasty bug or two and I feel your pain! One thing that always helps to lift my spirits is to have something positive and productive to look forward to. Something that makes me feel like life is going to be a little easier. One thing that does it for sure is to get something organized! Don’t you feel better after you organize a cluttered counter or maybe clean all the trash, sippy cups and random shoes and socks from your car? This month we are going to organize something we use almost everyday, our recipes! We are going to take those random print outs, photo copies and cards and put them in one neat and tidy recipe binder. We are leaving funky February behind and heading into marvelous March. Who’s with me?! Birthdays—Page 2 Recipe—Page 2 This month we will be making recipe binders! MOPPETS Corner—Page 2 Tips—Page 2 Calendar—Page 3 If you already have one that needs organization, bring it along. If you don’t have one yet, we will have binders and dividers available for everyone. Also, bring a favorite recipe to share with all the ladies at your table to help get our binders started! Next time you go out, give each of your children a lunch-size paper bag and tell them you’re going treasure hunting. As you walk, the children can put little “treasures” they find along they way into the bag. “Treasures” can be leaves, rocks, a flower picked along the way… Enjoy seeing your child’s imagination as they find special objects along the way. Note: Please let me know if I have missed your or your child’s birthday during the start of our year—and I will get it in next month’s newsletter as belated. Thank you! recipe submitted by Vicki M. Until a child tells you what they are thinking, we can't even begin to imagine how their mind is working..... Little Zachary was doing very badly in math. His parents had tried everything...tutors, mentors, In short, everything they could think of to help his math flash cards, special learning centers. Finally, in a last ditch effort, they took Zachary down and enrolled him In the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn't even kiss his mother hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and little Zachary was hard at work. His mother was amazed. She called him down to dinner. To her shock, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room without a word, and in no time, he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day, while the mother tried to understand what made all the difference. Finally, little Zachary brought home his report Card.. He quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, His Mom looked at it and to her great surprise, Little Zachary got an 'A' in math. She could no longer hold her curiosity.. She went to his room and said, 'Son, what was it? Was it the nuns?' Little Zachary looked at her and shook his head, no.. 'Well, then,' she replied, Was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms? WHAT WAS IT?' Little Zachary looked at her and said, 'Well, on the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren't fooling around.'
