Situational Examples:-
Situation – 1. You purchased a lottery ticket last month but you didn’t win it, so you
would say:1. If I had won the lottery, I would have purchased a car.
Situation – 2. The theme of Dhoom – 3 is not so good but Amir Khan did wonderful
acting, so spectators commented:2. If Amir Khan hadn’t been in Dhoom 3, it would have been a flop.
Situation – 3. You had prepared very well for your examination but you couldn’t
budget your time well. So you regret:3. If I had had another 10 minutes, I would have finished the examination paper.
Definition:- This conditional is used to talk about ‘impossible’ conditions; impossible
because they are in the past and we can’t change what has happened.
Few more examples:1. If I had gone to university, I would have studied French.
2. If I hadn’t had good education, I would have never got this job.
3. If Prakash had been free yesterday, I would have invited him.
4. If they hadn’t passed the exam, their teacher would have been sad.

-:Note:Sometimes we use should have, could have or might have instead of would have.
