Marjorie McBride passed away
on April 7 in her hometown of
Alameda, just six days before her
96th birthday.
Born on April
13, 1919, to Dr. Tura
Merrill Aldous and
Jessie Spafford Aldous
in Nitro W.Va., Marge
was raised in Tooele,
Utah where she graduated from high school
before moving on to a
degree at the University
of Utah in 1940. She was always
known for her striking beauty that
earned her the title of Miss Tooele
County and U Day Homecoming
Queen at the University of Utah.
Marge met her future husband,
Ted McBride, on a blind date in
Tooele. They were married on
December 30, 1943, just days before
he was shipped overseas to pilot a
B-24 Squadron in World War II.
After the war, the couple lived
briefly in San Francisco while Ted
finished dental school. In 1950
they relocated in Alameda, where
Ted set up a practice and Marge
handled the homemaking chores
of raising four children. She was a
very active member of society in
the East Bay, serving as president
of many organizations including the
Alameda Dental Auxiliary, Alameda
Garden Club, Alameda Book Club,
and the Alameda Tea Club. Marge
was also a member of Alpha Chi
Omega sorority, which she joined
while studying at the University
of Utah.
She is survived by her children,
Penny McGinness of Greer, S.C.,
Paul McBride of Carlsbad, Calif.,
Julie Dean of Sparks, Nev., Kevin
McBride of Davis and a brother,
Dean Aldous of Tooele.
Marjorie also leaves her
10 grandchildren and
six great grandchildren.
She always remembered their birthdays
and never forgot to
send a card or make a
phone call.
Marge lived a long
and healthy life. She took great
care of herself as demonstrated
by her daily swims, rain or shine,
until she was well into her 80s. She
never lost her trim figure and beautiful features, looking like a retired
movie star in her later years. Marge
was an avid gardener her entire
life and earned accolades for the
Japanese garden that she cultivated at her St. Charles Street home
in Alameda.
Family and friends are invited to
attend the funeral service at noon
on Saturday, April 18, at the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
on Encinal Avenue at Grand Street
in Alameda.
A private burial service will be
held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April
20, in Grantsville, Utah, where she
will be laid to rest next to her late
husband, Edward H. McBride.
In lieu of flowers a donation in
Marge’s memory may be made to a
local charity of your choice.

Daniel
Austin Dimitruk
June 13, 1963 — April 3, 2015
Dan Dimitruk, beloved son,
father, brother, uncle and friend,
died Friday, April 3, after a long
and brave battle with
cancer. He was 51.
Dan is survived
by his mother, Grace
Toifel (Joseph); his
father, Eugene; and,
his three daughters:
Katharine, Alexandra
and Natasha, the lights
and loves of his life.
He is also survived by his brothers, David (Vicki), Mark (Priscilla)
and Doug (Diana); his sisters,
Carol Cappiello (Frank) and Diana
Smith; and a large extended family, including many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews,
who meant the world to him.
Dan was born in Covina, Calif.,
and quickly developed a love for
spending time outdoors, playing golf and traveling around the
world. He built a career in the
technology industry, gaining a
large network of close friends and
associates who worked with him
in many different organizations
in both southern and northern
California. Dan spent many afternoons and Saturdays as a coach
for his daughters’
sports teams, helping
them, and many kids,
in Alameda improve
their soccer, basketball and baseball
skills.
Dan had an infectious laugh and a love
for life that will be
greatly missed by everyone. Most
importantly, Dan professed his
belief in Jesus Christ as the Savior
of his soul and was quick to speak
of his faith.
A funeral mass will take place
tomorrow, Friday, April 17, at 6:30
p.m. at Saint Joseph’s Basilica,
1109 Chestnut St. in Alameda. In
lieu of flowers, make donations
to the National Pancreatic Cancer
Foundation.
