HW: Practice #113, NO WORK, NO CREDIT, NO KIDDING!!!
**See unit 8 for more factoring help**
Steps to Solve by Factoring:
1. Solve for y (and plug in y = 0)
2. Factor (don’t forget the GCF!)
3. Set each factor each to zero and solve
2.
Remember: Solutions are also called xintercepts, roots, or zeroes.
3.
4.
Given the roots of the function, find the equation.
5.
6. Essential Question

Solving Quadratic Equations HW Help
No WORK, No CREDIT, No KIDDING!!
1. This quadratic is already factored. Set each factor equal to zero and solve for x!
2. Should factor to (2x 3)(2x 3)...there is only one solution!
3. Move everything over before trying to factor!
4. Should factor to (4x 1)(3x + 1)
5. Factoring help: Think about what two numbers MULTIPLY to 15 and ADD to 2. 6. You can divide each term by 2 once you solve for 0. Factor what's left over!
7 & 8. Remember, these problems work BACKWARDS! Set x = to both the roots, then solve for zero. Multiply these 2 factors together using the box!
9. Your FACTORS will always have opposite signs than the xintercepts. So if your xintercept is 1, your factor would be (x 1)
10 is a test question...just kidding :)
11. Distribute w to the parenthesis and subtract 252 from both sides. The factors of 252 that add to 9 are 12 and 21. Once you solve for w, remember that you can't have a negative width!
12. Factor out a negative 2. Your answer should be 1 second.
13. Area = length x width. Your quadratic should be w2 + 3w 70 = 0. Factor, solve, and don't forget to also find the length!
