RACING TEAM We would be excited to have you as a member of the Alki Velo Club, proud home of the Hotwire Racing Team. Our club began last fall as a group of avid cyclists who raced together in local cyclocross races. We could have joined other established teams, but we wanted to start a brand new team, based out of West Seattle and sponsored by local small businesses which we would be proud to support and rally around. Hence, we've launched the Alki Velo Club / Hotwire Racing Team! Our goal is to establish a club of dedicated cyclists where members would have the opportunity to meet and get to know other riders in the area. We hope that having an established local club will also encourage camaraderie, inspiration and recreation. Nearly all of us live in West Seattle and enjoy so much what this part of our city has to offer. Our dedication to our neighborhood includes a commitment to supporting our local businesses. We appreciate the importance of local companies in fostering a vibrant community. With that in mind, we have invited a small group of local businesses to join as sponsor-members. These include our title sponsor, Hotwire Coffee, as well as The Beer Junction, Cycle University, Luna Park Café, Kinetic Physical Therapy and Eagle Home Mortgage. As a member of the team, you will receive the benefit of discounts from some of these sponsors, and the knowledge that we are supporting them on our “kit” both inside and outside of our community. Alki Velo Club also appreciates the importance of local causes for our community. A portion of our team funds will be dedicated to support charities such as the Major Taylor Project (a local, youth development cycling program focused on introducing youth from diverse communities to the recreation of cycling). We are a non-discriminating cycling club. We welcome anybody with a passion for riding and a desire to increase the enjoyment of riding in our community. We plan to host regular gatherings and establish regular group rides, beginning and ending at some of our favorite spots. As the team grows, a number of group rides will be established, which will offer various distance and effort levels to choose from. As a member, you will have access to our team kit for your use during your rides and races. Although our club has a dedicated racing element, you are not required to be a racer in order to join. For those who race, we will establish a tent at local cyclocross races in the fall as a gathering point and hangout for our club. We will have tools, coffee and other goodies available throughout the day. We encourage you to join us for one of the races (racing or watching) as these events are an absolute blast. We hope to expand our race support to other disciplines of interest to members as well. We hope that you will join up and let us know about your areas of interest! -Pedro DeGuzman, President 3/25/2015 Alki Velo Club (Hotwire Coffee Racing Team) MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION Circle one: Renewal New application Name__________________________________________________ Male Female Address ______________________________________________________________________________ City __________________________________ State ________________ Zip code ____________________ Cell Phone _____________________________ Home Phone _____________________________________ E-Mail _________________________________ Birth date ______________________ (month/day/year) USAC Race License # (if you have one, not required) _______________________________ Racing Categories Please specify category and age group (e.g., Cat. 3 and masters 40+) and check your primary racing category Road ________ Cyclocross _________ Track __________ Mountain __________ Recreational _________ You and the Alki Velo Club Alki Velo Club (Hotwire Racing Team) is a West Seattle based cycling club.
