Heart Mural Project: Next week will be the last week to finish the
HEART mural. Everyone is welcome to help with the finishing touches on
Monday, Wednesday and Friday at lunch in Rm. 301 and with the artist
after school on Wednesday, May 27 in Rm. 301.

International students going to
Granville Island on Wednesday, May 27 there will be a quick meeting on
Tuesday, May 26 in Rm. 310 at 11:45 am.

Alpha`s Theatre Company Presents - ``Almost Maine`` by John
Cariani. Tickets available at lunch in one of the foyers from May 11 –
June 5 and on Alpha`s website through School Payment system. Dates –
May 26, 27, June 3 & 5. Prices range from $7 - $9.

PSI form on the Provincial website. If you are not sure how to do it please get an instruction sheet from
Student Services.

Attention Grade 11 & 12s!! Do you need more hours to complete your work experience? There are many
volunteer placements that are available right now to choose from and can get started in completing your
mandatory hours. Here are some details.
Vancouver Chinatown Festival! On August 8th and 9th Vancouver Chinatown BIA are looking for volunteers to help
work a variety of positions for this event. Come to the Career Centre to sign up.
FUN FAIR at ECOLE WESTRIDGE ELEMENTARY!! Help out our local elementary school run their FUN FAIR on
June 19th and complete your hours too. See Career Center to sign up.
Elections Canada is seeking application from secondary students to work on voting day. Be part of the electoral
system and get paid. Bring your resume and apply at the career center
FreshSlice Pizza is seeking students interested in gaining work experience at its corporate office. This

University Highlands Elementary School GREEN CARNIVAL!! We need volunteers for the school's carnival set
for Saturday May 30, 2015. This will count for your work experience/volunteer hour related forms (5 hours) and
Highlands Elementary is offering each volunteer food and refreshment package of vouchers they may redeem at
the carnival. Sign up in the Career Centre.

Parkcrest Elementary Carnival! Sign up to help our local elementary school Parkcrest run their Carnival. This is
the perfect opportunity to finish up your hours for work experience. See the Career Centre to sign up.
Honda Celebration of Light!! This is the 25th Anniversary of the firework festival on July 25, 29 th and August
1st. If you want to watch the fireworks while volunteering, they are looking for volunteers to help out in all

Burnaby International Student Summer Program looking for Mentors: Want a fun and rewarding way to earn
work experience hours while meeting students from around the world? Be a mentor in Burnaby’s Summer ESL
Program for international students this summer. See Ms. Perizzolo for more details.
Need Volunteer Hours? Become a Swim Lesson Volunteer with SFU Recreation! Students will get hands on
experience in the Aquatics field for the summer which can lead to future employment. See Ms. Perizzolo for
details.
ECOLE SPERLING SCHOOL FUN FAIR!! Sperling Fun Fair will be held May 29 th and they are looking for
volunteers to help run the fair which is raising funds for the school’s technology program. Come to the Career

Gilmore School’s BI-ANNUAL SCHOOL CARNIVAL!! Come out and help Gilmore school during an evening of fun,

SUN FEST SUMMER DAY CAMP NEEDS VOLUNTEERS! Heights Neighbourhood Association is looking for
enthusiastic, energetic and fun people to join their team this summer. See Ms. Perizzolo for details.
Artspace Children’s Arts Center: Are you a mature and reliable youth looking for a fun volunteer opportunity to
gain valuable work experience? If you are a student you is interested in working with kids and teach about visual
and performing arts come to the Career Center.
BCIT Broadcast Work Experience Opportunity (Grade 11 and 12)! Any grade 11 or 12 students interested in
acquiring work experience in the field of broadcast, please come to the Career Centre ASAP, spots fill quickly so
drop in over the next day or so!
Dancin’Stars School of the Performing Arts is looking for a work experience student who is interested in
Dance, costumes, helping out with events, and some clerical duties. Come see Ms. Perizzolo if you are interested.

SPORTS
Alpha’s Athletic Banquet will be on Wednesday May 27 at 5:00pm in the Small Gym.
Attention all student-athletes that played on a school team this year. Sports council will be selling/ distributing
Athletic Banquet tickets at lunch in the lower foyer.
If you played on a school team and paid your athletic fee, your ticket is free; just pick it up @ lunch.
If you would like to attend, you can purchase your ticket for $7.00.
There will be food, door prizes, entertainment, and awards handed out to our student-athletes.
