TRES DIAS OF ALTOONA – JOHNSTOWN
ARTICLE 1
Name and Purpose
Section 1. Name: The name of this corporation is Tres Dias of Altoona Johnstown hereinafter referred to as the Community.
Section 2. Purpose: To develop Christians into leaders who are committed to
the spiritual renewal of the visible church and to sustain these leaders
in their commitment.
Section 3. Affiliation: Altoona-Johnstown Tres Dias is a chartered member of
the Tres Dias National Secretariat, and as such is governed by the
Constitution and by-laws of the National organization, and agrees to
adhere to The Essentials of the Tres Dias prescribed by the National
Assembly.
Section 4. Statement of Belief: In order to understand AJTD you must
understand what we believe. These beliefs explain our allegiance to
the Savior, our dedication to the work of His Kingdom and our stand
for absolute truth.
A. We believe and profess our faith in one triune God, the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
B. We believe and profess that Jesus Christ is the only Savior, and is God in the flesh.
(John 1:1, 3:16, 14:6)
C. We believe and profess that the Holy Spirit is God, and is The Lord and Giver of
Life. (Romans 8:11, Job 33:4)
D. We believe and profess that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired and completely true
Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
E. We believe and profess that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, that
forgiveness of sins is received through confession and repentance, and that our sins
are washed away
through the blood of Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23, Acts 2:38, I
John 1:9)
We as an Individual must each go before the Lord to confess our
own sins and no other individual can be responsible for another’s
sins.
F. We believe and profess that salvation is a gift of God’s grace and obtained through
faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8)
To say that Salvation comes through any other means other than

through faith in Jesus Christ is unacceptable in AJTD.
G. We believe and profess that the Body of Christ is to make every
effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace until
we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of
God. (Ephesians 4:3,13)
H. We believe and profess that God’s unconditional love, as made manifest to us
through Jesus Christ, is the primary witness by which people are renewed, edified
and changed. (I Corinthians 13:8)
I. We believe and profess that God has called us to live holy lives that will bring glory
to His name. (Colossians 3:1-25)
Disclaimer Policy for Article 1 Section 4
To ensure peace and unity this statement is provided to support and clarify our
Statement of Belief in Article 1 Section 4 of the AJTD By-Laws.
Staying within the guidelines of AJTD, and abiding by our Statement of Belief, we
cannot allow any teachings distinctive or exclusive to any group, fellowship,
denomination, or individual to be shared at any and all AJTD functions. This applies to
all Team members, Spiritual Directors and Candidates. Any and All counseling must be
left to the appointed Spiritual Directors of that weekend. Any special groups specific for
prayer must be on team and approved by the Rector.

Disciplinary actions will be as follows:
First infraction, a warning will be given by the person in authority in the presence of a
witness.
Second infraction will be addressed by Secretariat, with the person present.
Third infraction will be addressed by Secretariat and the appropriate action will be taken
including but not limited to releasing you from AJTD.

ARTICLE II
Membership
Section 1. Members: The membership of the community consists of
anyone who has completed a Tres Dias of AltoonaJohnstown Weekend. Those who have completed a Tres
Dias weekend in any other area, a Curisillo or
Cursillo/Protestant Weekend in any other weekend and
who now resides in the Altoona-Johnstown area, may
become members of the Community upon their request
and acceptance by the Secretariat as defined in Article II,
Section 1 (above). Members shall be called Pescadores.
A member may request withdrawal from the Community by
contacting the Lay Director who shall submit the request to
Secretariat for action.
(Note: In the following paragraphs the word ‘he’ and chairman are used to denote
either sex.)
ARTICLE III
Secretariat
Section 1. Responsibilities of Secretariat:
The management of the affairs of the Community shall be vested in the
Secretariat, which shall be composed of the officers elected by the Community.
The Secretariat shall perform such functions as are normally performed by Board
of Directors. It shall be responsible for maintaining the proven dynamics of the
Tres Dias Movement. It shall receive all reports and oversee the work of the
various committees, approve all expenditures, appoint special committees for a
specific purpose. The Chairman of such a special committee shall be an officer
currently serving in the Secretariat. In the event that a Rector or Assistant Rector
cannot fill their position the Associate Rector will fill the position. The Spiritual Director
for the Weekend shall be chosen by the Rector
and approved by The Advisory Committee. Any deviation from the standard format
of the Weekend shall be approved by the Secretariat. The Secretariat shall appoint
an audit chairman to perform an annual audit.
Section 2. Officers: The Secretariat shall be composed of the Lay Director, Assistant
Lay Director, Spiritual Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant
Treasurer/Secretary , Pre-Weekend Committee, Post Weekend Committee, and the
following Committees: Advisory Committee and the Weekend Committee.
Section 3. The first Thursday of each month will be set for a monthly secretariat
meeting. Members are to notify the Lay Director or Secretary if unable to attend.

ARTICLE IV
Duties Of Officers And Standing Committees
Section 1. General Duties:
a. All officers shall attend all meetings of the Secretariat if at all
possible and take an active part in the business management of
Tres Dias. Any officer who cannot attend a meeting shall inform
The Lay Director or Secretary prior to the meeting.
b. A yearly report shall be presented at the December annual meeting by the Lay
Director
Section 2. Lay Director: The Lay Director shall preside at all meetings of the
Secretariat and of the Community, including the Weekend Closings.
He serves as ex-officio member of all committees. He shall act as
contact person between other Tres Dias communities, the National
Organization of Tres Dias, and other Cursillo-type communities. He
promotes the concept of Tres Dias with Christian clergy in the
Altoona-Johnstown area.
Section 3. Assistant Lay Director: In the absence of the Lay Director, the
Assistant Lay Director shall perform the duties of the Lay Director. He
shall perform such additional duties as may be assigned to him by the
Lay Director of the Secretariat.
Section 4. Spiritual Director: The role of the Spiritual Director is to be supportive
of a lay-led and lay directed movement. He shall give support and
counsel to the Lay Director and the Secretariat. He shall address all
issues from the viewpoint of our response to Jesus Christ.
Section 5. Secretary: The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings, as
defined in Article V, of the Community and of the Secretariat. Upon
request from any member of the Community he shall handle all official
correspondence and keep on file permanent records. He shall
perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Lay Director.
The term of Secretary shall be a permanent position until resignation
at which time the Assistant Treasurer/Secretary will fill the Head position. A new
Assistant will be appointed by Secretariat.
Section 6. a. Treasurer: The Treasurer shall have charge of all receipts and
moneys of the Community; deposit them, disburse funds and transfer funds as
ordered or authorized by the Secretariat. He shall keep regular
accounts of his receipts and disbursements; submit the records to the
Secretariat monthly; give a financial statement at the annual meetings
of the Community. Treasurer and designated other shall normally sign all checks on
behalf of the Community upon any and all of it’s bank accounts. In the absence of
the Treasurer, the designated other shall sign all checks. After consultation with the
Secretariat, he shall submit the annual operating budget for the coming fiscal year to
the Community at the annual meeting. He shall perform such other duties as may
from time to time be assigned by the Lay Director or the Secretariat.

The term of Treasurer shall be a permanent position until resignation
at which time the Assistant Treasurer will fill the Head position and a
new Assistant will be appointed by Secretariat.
The Treasurer shall maintain all communications with Camp Living Water, as
requested by Camp, and notify Secretariat and Community of dates and any changes.
c. Assistant Treasurer: The Assistant Treasurer shall receive applications
and sponsor form and coordinate their acceptance or rejections with Secretariat.
All monies with documentation shall then be turned into the Treasurer.
Section 7. Pre-Weekend Committee: Consist of a Lead and Assistant Lead.
a. The Pre-Weekend Committee shall have charge of maintaining the Tres Dias Trailer
and shall maintain an up-to-date inventory. He/She shall coordinate the purchase of
supplies with Secretariat.
b. Is responsible for coordinating inspection and maintenance of the Tres Dias trailer.
Shall maintain proper inventory and supplies for upcoming weekend, and be
responsible to have the trailer delivered to and from camp.
Section 8. Weekend Committee: Consist of a 2 Leads and their Assistants- working in conjunction
with each other to follow out the responsibilities.
a. The Weekend Committee is responsible for providing a clean-up
committee for each Weekend. They will be expected to clean and
replace all items.
b. Clean-up will consist of stripping all walls of all Tres Dias material, replacing tables
and chairs, sweep floors, bag all trash and place in proper location. They shall be
responsible to assure all facilities at camp are left in a clean manor.
c. Weekend Committee will be responsible for adult supervision for the baby sitting
service and explaining just what limitations there are involved. For example: Keep
children out of living quarters, not allowing children across bridge, keep children
away from closing ceremony while it is going on.
d. Weekend Committee will be in charge of getting a group and assuring satisfactory
performance of the “Way Of The Cross”. Weekend Committee is responsible for
keeping all supplies for “The Way Of The Cross” and for maintaining these supplies
and replacing items as needed.
e. The Weekend Committee will be responsible for the community prayer vigil.
Section 9. Post Weekend Committee: Consists of Lead and Assistant Lead
The Post-Weekend Committee shall be in charge of scheduling, programming and
staffing of monthly Secuelas, and special functions. They shall be responsible for
continuing contact with the new Pescadores, their Sponsors and Permanent Reunion
groups.
Section 10. Community Communication : The Community Communication shall consist of the
Sonshine, AJTD Website, Database, and E-Mail
Section 11. Advisory Committee: The Assistant Lay Director will act as a member of this
committee under the direction of the Advisory Head.
Membership will consist of the Community Spiritual Director and persons who
have served as a Rector of an AJTD Weekend and are active members of the
AJTD community.

Note: This committee should be made up of the seven pescadores:
The Advisory Head – acting as chairman, one spiritual director,
four past rectors, and the Assistant Lay Director.
Duties are:
a. Review and/or recommend to Secretariat direction and specific
policy especially with respect to spiritual, essential and dynamic
aspects of the movement and the weekend.
b. Shall obtain information on eligible persons who wish to serve on team –
showing his/here experience and interest in AJTD, and provide the Rectors
with a list of candidates eligible for Assistant Rector, Chief Auxiliary/Martha,
and the Piety, Leaders, and Action Rollista positions.
c. Shall maintain a list of Spiritual Directors for Weekends.
d. Recommend Assistant Rectors (who shall be confirmed by Secretariat), review
team lists with present Rectors and provide guidance and support to those Rectors
as they plan their Weekends.
e. Shall maintain copies of the “AJTD Rector’s Manual” the “AJTD Detailed Schedule”
and other AJTD team materials and shall make them available to the Rector of
each Weekend.
f. Terms of office of Advisory Committee members will be as follows:
1. Chairman: The Advisory Head who serves in this position.
This is an appointed position by Secretariat. This is a voting position.
2. The Lead Spiritual Director will serve one year in conjunction with their
Secretariat term.
3. The four past Rectors 2 Men, 2 Women, on this committee will serve a twoyear term. These are elected positions and will be filled by having their
names placed on the ballot at the annual meeting.
ARTICLE V
Meetings
Annual Meetings : The Annual Meeting shall be held in conjunction with the
December Christmas party. A quorum shall consist of at least 20 members.
Regular Meetings: Regular meetings of the Secretariat shall be held
monthly at such time and place as shall be determined by the Secretariat. Regular
meetings may be attended by any member of the Community, any Community Member
desiring to be placed on the agenda must submit a written request with an explanation
one week before the meeting to the Lay Director. A quorum shall consist of one over
half of the number of Secretariat voting board members.
Voting Members of Secretariat are as follows: Assistant Lay Director, Secretary,
Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer/Secretary, Pre Weekend Committee, Weekend
Committee, Post Weekend Committee, Spiritual Directors, Advisory Head.
Section 1. Special Meetings: Only the business for which the meeting is called shall be acted

upon.
Special meetings of the Secretariat may be called at any time between regular
meetings, by the Lay Director.
The membership of the Community may upon written petition signed
by eight members, require the Lay Director to call a special meeting
of the Community. A quorum for such a meeting shall consist of at
least 20 members.
ARTICLE VI
Elections
Section 1. Election Of Officers: The officers shall be elected on a staggered
basis at the December Secuela and installed at the annual meeting of
the Community. A ballot will be prepared by Secretariat at the November meeting.
There may be nominations from the floor with the previous consent of the
nominee. Each attending member of the Community shall have one vote.
A simple majority is required for election. Absentee ballots will be accepted.
Section 2. Terms Of Office: Officers shall serve for a term of two years, (except Secretary,
Treasurer, and Advisory Head) assuming their duties at the close of the annual
meeting. At least one year must lapse before an officer is eligible for another term in
the same category.
ARTICLE VII
Vacancies In Office
Section 1. In the event of a vacancy in the office of Lay Director, the vacancy will be filled with a
past Lay Director appointed by Secretariat. If a vacancy occurs in any other position,
it shall be filled by the Secretariat for the un-expired term.
ARTICLE VIII
Notice
Section 1. Notice of the Annual Meeting of the Community and the ballot of nominees shall be
published in the Sonshine and AJTD Website prior to the annual meeting for prayerful
consideration. Special meetings of the Community must be announced prior to the
meeting by E-mail and AJTD Website.

ARTICLE IX
Amendments
Section 1. These by-laws may be amended by the Community by a two-thirds
majority of those present and voting at the annual meeting or at any
special meeting. The meeting notice of announcement, given per
Article VIII, shall include the text of the proposed amendment (s) prior
to any action on the amendment (s) at any given meeting.
This resolution supersedes and nullifies all previous motions made concerning AJTD By-Laws.
