1.
PROMOTER’S DETAILS
We are Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with
registration number 1927955, with registered offices at Turner House, 16 Great Marlborough Street, London,
W1F 7HS, United Kingdom (the “Promoter”). -

WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1
You can enter this competition only if you are:

a)
entering on behalf of a child aged fourteen (14) years old or under of whom you are the parent or
guardian;
b)
child between the ages six (6) to fourteen (14) years old or under with parent of guardian prior
permission;
c)
A legal citizen of the Republic of South Africa;
d)
an individual (as opposed to a juristic person);
e)
not employed by the Promoter or any related group company.
GENERAL
By entering this competition you confirm that you are eligible to enter and agree to be bound by these Terms and
Conditions.

Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or
avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the entrant or the promoter in terms of
the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (the “CPA").
By entering the competition in accordance with its terms, you are entering a promotional competition for the
purposes of the CPA and the promotional competition will be conducted in accordance with the relevant
provisions of the CPA. Should you win a prize in the competition, you undertake to expeditiously do all things
necessary to enable the Promoter to comply with its obligations under the CPA including, but not limited to (i)
providing such personal information as may be required in order to facilitate handing over the prize (including
providing proof of address and identity number) and (ii) signing receipt of the prize upon its delivery.
4.
HOW TO ENTER
4.1
The competition commences on 30th April 2015 and concludes at midnight on 2 September 2015 (the “Term”).
Players can upload their entries online at www.cartoonnetworkafrica.com/animationgeneration and if doing so must
submit before midnight on 2 September 2015. If using the postal method, players should send their entries to one of
the following addresses to arrive before the closing date of 2 September 2015 in accordance with the instructions in
the promotion for the Competition:

To enter the competition online you must follow the following steps:
a)
Visit www.cartoonnetworkafrica.com/animationgeneration and read the competition details carefully
b)
If you are 13 or under, ask your parents or guardian for permission.
c)
Once you receive your parent’s approval, that your parents or guardian have filled out the form, you
can proceed with your entry and upload your amazing idea by following the guidance included in the
Website.
Entry Specifications
a)
The artwork must feature a completely new Cartoon Network Hero.
b)
The drawing must be on A3 paper or board (i.e. 197 mm x 420 mm).
c)
The artwork should fill the page and must be drawn as clearly as possible (so that it can be displayed
clearly on Cartoon Network, if it is chosen as one of the winning entries).
d)
Any artistic medium may be used – whether chalk, paint, pastels or even pencil crayons.
e)
In addition to the new Cartoon Network Hero designed and developed by the entrant, entries should
only feature existing characters* from Cartoon Network’s shows if the artist includes these characters
in the entry (the characters can be researched by visiting www.cartoonnetworkafrica.com or by
watching Cartoon Network on DStv 301).
f)
Entries that feature any other cartoon stars will automatically be disqualified.
g)
*The drawings of any existing Cartoon Network characters do not have to be exact replicas of those
shown on the channel. Just as artists interpret their models differently, so individual learners are
entitled to interpret the characters as they see them. Moreover, tracing of any characters will disqualify
the entrant.
h)
All entries will become the property of Cartoon Network, i.e. the artwork will therefore not be
returned. If desired, please make a copy of the poster before submitting it, for your own records.
i)
The winning entries will, however, receive a framed copy of their winning artwork, along with a framed
certificate.
j)
All entries must be completed before the closing date of 2 September 2015
k)
Each entry received after closing date will not be considered for this competition.
a.
Your entry will become the property of Promoter and cannot be returned to you.
b.
Each player will be eligible to enter the competition once and any multiple entries will be
rejected.
c.
By entering the competition your parents or guardians allow us to use your name on the
Website.
5.
HOW TO WIN
5.1
This competition is designed as a creative platform to develop, recognize and nurture talented youth in the
region. It is a game of talent and creativity where chance plays no part in determining the winner.
5.2
Ensure your entry abide with the below specifications:
5.3
a.
The finished designs must be drawn on a single A4 sized page or a single A3 page (any
entry exceeding one A4 or one A3 pages will be disqualified)
b.
The character must be drawn as clearly as possible (so that it can be displayed clearly on
the Website if it is chosen as the winning entry).
c.
Any artistic medium may be used – whether chalk, paint, pastels or even pencil crayons.
d.
Entries should only feature the character you are being asked to create and no other
cartoon characters. Entries that feature any other cartoon stars will automatically be
disqualified.
Three (3) winners will be selected from each age group by a jury based on the drawing and imagination skills:
a.
Three (3) winners in the age group from 6 to 8 years old
b.
Three (3) winners in the age group from 9 to 11 years old

c.
Three (3) winners in the age group from 12 to 14 years old
This will take place in October 2015. Our decision about the prize winners is final and we will not enter into any
correspondence regarding the result.
5.4
The top three entries in each of the three age groups (6 to 8-years-old; 9 to 11-years-old; and 12 to 14-yearsold) and their schools will be rewarded with the prizes stated in the promotional material.
5.5
If you win, Promoter will notify your parent or guardian by a phone call or email within two months of the
closing date of the competition.
5.6
Once notified, the winners’ parents or guardians will then have 24 hours to confirm the prize otherwise we
have the right to choose another winner based on the next best voted entry. An entrant will only be eligible to
receive the prize if the parental consent form has been signed and received by Promoter.
If a consent form is not received or a winner cannot be contacted or does not respond by the end of imparted
delay, Promoter will select as the new winner the next best entry on the same criteria as defined in Clause 5.3
above. In such circumstances, the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the replacement winner(s) shall be contacted by
telephone as soon as reasonably practicable and shall be required to provide the parental consent from to the
Promoter. In the event that the replacement winner(s) up fails to respond or provide the parental consent as
required, then the provisions of this clause shall be repeated until a valid winner is selected.
5.7
By accepting the prize you agree that we may also post your child’s full name on the competition page of the
Website and/or on-air on Cartoon Network. However the parents or guardians of the winners may request that
their child’s name not be published. The Winners may be requested to take part in the publicity campaigns for
Promoter or to allow their names and likenesses to be used by Promoter for promotional purposes. The parents
or guardians of the winners are however, entitled to decline such a request.
5.8
We reserve the right to amend the terms and conditions as well as terminate the Promotional Competition at
any time. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they may have in terms
of the Promotional Competition and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against us or our advertising
agencies, advisors, suppliers or affiliates.
6.
PRIZES
6.1
We cannot provide the winners with cash instead of the prize stated below and we will not change the prize for
anything else. We will agree with the winners’ parent or guardian a date to deliver its prize to the winner.

6.2
If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, we reserve the right to substitute it for a prize of equal or greater
value to the value stated above.
6.3
The overall winner’s drawing (across the three age groups) will animated into a 15 second promo where the
character comes to life on screen, giving them the thrill of having their artwork displayed throughout South
Africa (and even internationally).

7.
NO LIABILITY
7.1
If anything or anyone interferes with the competition, we can start the whole competition again, and ask
everyone to re-enter if they wish. All entrants who have received prizes already will still be able to receive and
use them.
7.2
We are not liable for anything that may occur:
a.
as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected entries, mail, email or calls;
b.
due to the promotions about the competition including any statements made by any
person;
c.
if we fail for any reason to receive your entry, or if your entry is damaged or altered
because of technical problems in your computer or phone because you entered this
competition;
d.
for anything that may occur whilst enjoying the Prize or any costs of accepting or
attending at the location of the prize, including travel to and from the location at which
the Prize is to be taken.
e.
We can disqualify any entrant that interferes in any way with the Competition and/or the
entry process.
d.
We will not be responsible in the event a winner declines to accept any prize for any
reason.

6.1
I consent to the irrevocable assignment, in perpetuity, of all copyright and other intellectual property rights in
my child’s entry to Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited;
6.2
I consent to Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited animating, copying, adapting, altering, using,
exploiting and publishing the entry drawing in whole or in part provided by my child as part of the ANIMATION
GENERATION COMPETITION, which took place between from the 30th of April to the 2nd of September 2015.
6.3
I agree that Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited may publish my child’s entry, featuring all or part of
my child’s entry, in any and all media throughout the world in perpetuity and that neither I nor my child will be entitled
to any compensation;
6.4
I consent to Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited using my child name’s for promotional purposes on
Cartoon Network, Cartoon Network website and social media space.
6.5
I accept that Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited will be under no obligation to publish or exploit my
child’s entry or any part thereof.
