As in the past it can be reached under www.meyer-seals.com Your Meyer-Seals team For quite a long time even though they fulfil all requirements, aluminium screw-off bottle caps had not really been accepted by bottlers and consumers. However, nowadays they are becoming increasingly popular. To meet the requirements of this development Meyer Seals has various seal inserts on offer to satisfy customers’ individual needs. The ALKOzell / paper, tin, Saran disc was developed especially for use in aluminium screw-off caps for wine bottles, this combining the advantages of the soft tin-foil (adapts itself to the mouth of the bottle optimally) with the excellent barrier properties of the Saran foil. As a premium product it is put to use especially in bottle caps used for high quality wines. Saranex / ALKOzell / Saranex discs represent an optimal combination of economy and sealing qualities. Wine bottlers in Europe and the USA have been using this type of seal successfully for quite a number of years. Industrial Engineer Libia Garay: „We have developed an alternative insert for aluminium screw-off bottle caps for wine bottles no longer containing chlorinated hydrocarbons.“ To meet customers’ wishes for coloured inserts we now offer dyed Saranex / ALKOzell / Saranex. With the use of new extrusion and proportioning technologies, Meyer Seals has been able to replace the use of dyed foils (high minimum purchase quantity) with the application of a dyed extruded layer. Our own company procedure enables us to satisfy our customers’ requirements in a flexible manner. The colour of the inserts can be adapted individually to match the colour of the cap, the container, the filling or the bottler’s “Corporate Colours”. This means that a Saranex disc dyed silver is almost identical to an ALKOzell / paper, tin, Saran disc. With this procedure the colouring is applied beneath the Saranex layer. The taste of the wine is not affected in any way at all due to there being no contact with the filling. The barrier material put to use in Saran or Saranex is Polyvinylidenchlorid (PVdC), a polymer related to Polyvinylchlorid (PVC). The relationship to PVC has always been a reason for discussions concerning possible health risks. For this reason we developed an alternative PVdC-free disc, the EVOH / ALKOzell / EVOH disc. The properties of this disc especially regarding its oxygen permeability are by no means inferior to the well tried and tested Saranex lamination. Interested?
