Friendship Bracelet Instructions
Level: Advanced
BEFORE YOU BEGIN you need to know how to make a double right handed knot, a double left handed knot, a
single left handed knot, and a single right handed knot.You can see these instructions at myfbm.com.
1. Pick 2 different colors. (The example uses black & pink). You
will need 3 strands of black and 3 strands of pink.
2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot ½ inch from fold forming
a loop.
3. Attach your ½ inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.
4. This pattern has 11 strings. You will have 1 extra string to the
right of slot #10. This string will be referred to as #11. Arrange the same color in slots 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 (black) and slots
7,8,9,10 & 11(pink). Simply cut the remaining 12th string,
close to the knot, to remove from pattern.
5. Take string #2(black) and make a left hand double knot with
string #1(black). String #2(black) will now be in slot 1.
6. Take string#4(black) and make left hand double knots with
strings #3(black),#2(black) and #1(black). String #4(black)
will now be in slot 1.
7. Take string #6(black) and make left hand double knots with
starting with string #5(black), then #4(black), then #3(black),
then #2(black) and lastly #1(black). String #6(black) will now
be in slot 1.
11. Take string #9(black) and make a single right knot and then
a single left hand knot with string #10(pink). String #9(black)
will remain in slot 9.
12. Take string #6(pink) and make left hand double knots with
strings #5(black), #4(black) and #3(black). String #6(pink)
will now be in slot 3.
13. Take string #3(pink) and make a single left and then a single
right hand knot with string #2(black). String #3(pink) will
remain in slot 3.
14. Take string #7(pink) and make a single left and then a single
right hand knot with string #6(black). String #7(pink) will
remain in slot 7.
15. Take string #7(pink) and make a right hand double knot with
string #8(pink). String #7(pink) will now be in slot 8.
16. Take string #5(black) and make a right hand double knot with
string #6(black). String #5(black) will now be in slot 6.
17. Take string #7(pink) and make a single left and then a single
right hand knot with string #6(black). String #7(pink) will
remain in slot 7.
8. Take string #9(pink) and make right hand double knots with
strings #10(pink) and then #11(pink). String #9(pink) will
now be in slot 11.
18. Take string #4(black) and make right hand double knots with
strings #5(black) and #6(black). String #4(black) will now be
in slot 6.
9. Take string #7(pink) and make right hand double knots with
strings #8(pink), #9(pink), #10(pink) and #11(pink). String
#7(pink) will now be in slot 11.
19. Take string #9(black) and make left hand double knots with
strings #8(pink), #7(pink) and #6(black). String #9(black) will
now be in slot 6.
10. Take string #6(black) and make right hand double knots with
strings #7(pink), #8(pink) and #9(pink). String #6(black) will
now be in slot 9.
20. Take string #11(pink) and make left hand double knots with
strings #10(pink), #9(pink) and #8(pink). String #11(pink) will
now be in slot 8.

21. Take string #8(pink) and make a single left and then a single
right hand knot with string #7(black). String #8(pink) will
remain in slot 8.
26. Take string #1(black) and make right hand double knots with
strings #2(black) and #3(black). String #1(black) will now be
in slot 3.
22. Take string #3(pink) and make right hand double knots with
strings #4(black), #5(black), #6(black) and #7(black). String
#3(pink) will now be in slot 7.
27. At this point you have completed one rotation of the pattern.
Repeat steps 5-26 until your bracelet is long enough or at the
desired length.
23. Take string #11(pink) and make left hand double knots with
strings #10(pink), #9(pink) and #8(pink). String #11(pink) will
now be in slot 8.
28. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take three
strings from the slots 1 - 4 in your left hand and three strings
from slots 8 – 11 in your right hand and braid with the
remaining 2 center strings.
24. Take string #11(pink) and make a left hand double knot with
string #10(pink). String #11(pink) will now be in slot 10.
25. Take string #1(black) and make right hand double knots with
strings #2(black), #3(black), #4(black) and #5(black). String
#1(black) will now be in slot 5.
29. Take the braided strings and tie two basic knots at the end of
your friendship bracelet.
30. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the butterfly clip and
cut off the excess braided section. Your friendship bracelet is
ready to wear or share with your best friend or mom.
