blocks fascinates like no other pieced-quilt theme.
Creative Crafts Group, LLC
We’ve gathered 3 easy star quilt patterns here, each with a distinctly different
style and feeling. From the brights-against-black drama of New Year’s Sparklers,
to the traditional appeal of American Sweetheart, to the cheerful modern exuberance of Mix & Match, you’ll find a star quilt here that’s perfect for your home.
Enjoy piecing these fun designs, but be warned…star blocks tend to be quite
addicting!

All fabric requirements are based on 40˝/42˝-wide fabric. The yardage given includes an additional amount to
account for fabric shrinkage and individual differences in cutting. A G˝ seam allowance is included on pattern pieces
when required. All measurements for pieces, sashing, and borders include G˝ seam allowances. The finished quilt size
is the size of the quilt before quilting. Because each quiltmaker usually has a personal preference for a particular type
of batting, the type of batting to be used for each quilt will not be listed, unless it is necessary to obtain a specific look.
Fabric listed for binding includes yardage for straight-grain binding.

Planning
Gerri’s alternate blocks and careful color placement create stylized hearts surrounding crisp
stars for a heartfelt patriotic quilt. Her choices of
a black background print for the outer border/binding and tan/cream prints for the block
backgrounds give the quilt an antique feel. For a
more contemporary look, try assorted white
prints for the background and a navy print for
the outer border.

Planning
Before cutting the star patches from
assorted bright prints, you may wish to
select 12 sets of 1 fat eighth and 1 fat
quarter each of fabrics in pleasing combinations for the inner and outer stars
of each block.
The outer border fabric in this cheerful quilt is a directional print. Yardage
and cutting are based on the featured
fabric. If you choose a nondirectional
print for the outer border, you can
piece all the border strips from width
of fabric (WOF) strips, and will need to
purchase just 1⅜ yds.
Piecing the Blocks

Referring to Diagram I, place marked
