Tena koutou katoa We are pleased to share with you that Hoana Pearson QSM, Ngati Rangi Wewehi, Ngati Raukawa and Principal of Newton Central School has joined our team in Auckland for 2015 as Kaikotuitui (networker). Hoana is keen to gather the thoughts and views of the education sector to weave into a collaborative and cohesive strategic plan to improve outcomes for Māori in Auckland. This will involve Hoana getting out and about in our communities, connecting and networking with anyone who is willing to share their thoughts about education for Māori in our city. Hoana has described this initiative as exciting and innovative and an opportunity for the education sector to develop a uniquely Auckland response to realising Māori potential and improving outcomes for Māori. School and Kura leaders’ contribution to this initiative will be invaluable. Hoana is willing to meet with and listen to any individuals, schools and kura, cluster groups and any other groups who are interested in sharing their stories about education for Māori in Auckland and contributing to this work.
