From Owl–C8371 Brown, cut: • Two 21⁄2" x WOF strips for the 9-patch blocks. • Six 21⁄2" x WOF strips for the binding. From Stripe–C8368 Brown, cut: Two 21⁄2" x WOF strips for the 9-patch blocks. From Owl–C8369 Blue, cut: • Twenty-six 21⁄2" squares for the 9-patch blocks. • Two 21⁄2" x WOF strips for the 9-patch blocks. From Owl–C8367 Cream, cut: Three 31⁄2" x WOF strips. Sub-cut thirty-four 31⁄2" squares for the pieced border. From Stripe–C8368 Blue, cut: Two 31⁄2" x WOF strips. Sub-cut twelve 31⁄2" squares for the pieced border. From Owl–C8370 Blue, cut: One 31⁄2" x WOF strip. Sub-cut ten 31⁄2" squares for the pieced border. Cutting From Owl–C8372 Aqua, cut: From Owl–C8365 Multi: 1 1 • Check to see if your panel is on the straight-of-grain. Two 3 ⁄2" x WOF strips. Sub-cut twelve 3 ⁄2" squares for If not, carefully stretch it so that it is square to the the pieced border. From Owl–C8371 Yellow, cut: grain. 1 • Fussy-cut the panel 1/4" outside the brown border Seven 1 ⁄2" x WOF strips. Piece the strips together to make two 11⁄2" x 631⁄2" strips and two 11⁄2" x 471⁄2" creating a center approximately 191⁄2" x 391⁄2". Measure your panel BEFORE cutting the following borders strips for the inner border. From Owl–C8367 Brown, cut: from Owl–C8372 Lime. Cut: Seven 31⁄2" x 42" strips. Piece the strips together to • Two 31⁄2" x 391⁄2" (or the length of your panel). 1 1 1 1 • Two 3" x 251⁄2" strips (or the width of your panel + make two 3 ⁄2" x 65 ⁄2" strips and two 3 ⁄2" x 53 ⁄2" strips for the outer border. 61⁄2"). • Two 2" x 391⁄2" strips. • Three 2" x width-of-fabric (WOF) strips. From Owl–C8369 Cream, cut: Four 21⁄2" x WOF strips for the 9-patch blocks. Quilt Top Assembly 1. Sew one 31⁄2" x 391⁄2" Owl–C8372 Lime strip to each side of the Owl–C8365 Multi Panel. Sew one 3" x 251⁄2" Owl– C8372 Lime strip to the top and one to the bottom of the Owl–C8365 Multi Panel to make the quilt top center. Trim the quilt top center to measure 241⁄2" x 421⁄2". 2. Sew one 21⁄2" x 42" Owl–C8369 Cream strip to each side of one 21⁄2" x 42" Owl–C8372 Orange strip to make one strip set. (figure 1) Repeat to make a second strip set. fig. 1 3. Cut the two strips sets into twenty-six 21⁄2" units for the Light 9-patch top and bottom rows. (figure 2) 4. Sew one 21⁄2" Owl–C8370 Red square to each side of a 21⁄2" Owl–C8366 Lime square to make a Light 9-patch center row. Repeat to make thirteen center rows. (figure 3) 5. Sew a Light 9-patch top row and a Light 9-patch bottom row to one light 9-patch middle row to make one 61⁄2" Light 9-patch block. (figure 4) Repeat to make thirteen light 9-patches. fig. 2 1 6. Sew one 2 ⁄2" x 42" Owl–C8371 Brown strip to one side of a 21⁄2" x 42" Owl–C8369 Blue strip. Sew one Stripe–C8368 Brown fig. 3 strip to the other side of the Owl–C8369 Blue strip to make one strip set. (figure 5) Repeat to make a second strip set. 7. Cut the two strips sets into twenty-six 21⁄2" units for the Dark 9-patch top and fig. 4 bottom rows. (figure 6) 8. Sew one 21⁄2" Owl–C8369 Blue square to each side of one 21⁄2" Owl–C8366 cream square to make one Dark 9-patch center row. Repeat to make thirteen center rows. (figure 7) 9. Sew one Dark 9-patch top row with the Owl–C8371 Brown square on the left side to one dark 9-patch middle row. Sew one Dark 9-patch bottom row to the fig. 5 fig. 6 Dark 9-patch middle row with the Owl–C8371 square on the right side to make one 61⁄2" Dark 9-patch block. (figure fig. 7 8) Repeat to make thirteen dark 9-patches. 10. Refer to the quilt photo for block placement and sew together four Dark 9-patch blocks and three Light 9-patch blocks, alternating them, to make the left side border. Sew fig. 8 together four Light 9-patch blocks and three Dark 9-patch blocks, alternating them, to make the right side border. Sew the borders to the quilt top center. 11. Starting with one Light 9-patch block, sew together three Light 9-patch blocks and three Dark 9-patch blocks, alternating them, to make the top border. Repeat to make the bottom border. Sew the borders to the quilt top and bottom. 12. Sew one 2" x 541⁄2" Owl–C8372 Lime strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 2" x 391⁄2" Owl–C8372 Lime strip to the top and one to the bottom of the quilt top. 13. Refer to the quilt photo for color order and sew together ten assorted 31⁄2" Blue squares, alternating them with nine 31⁄2" Owl–C8367 Cream squares to make one pieced side border. Repeat to make a second pieced side border. Sew the borders to the quilt top. 14. Refer to the quilt photo for color order and sew together eight Owl–C8367 Cream squares, alternating them with seven assorted 31⁄2" Blue squares to make the top pieced border. Repeat to make the bottom pieced border. Sew the borders to the quilt top. 15. Sew one 11⁄2" x 631⁄2" Owl–C8371 Yellow strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 11⁄2" x 471⁄2" Owl–C8371 Yellow strip to the top and one to the bottom of the quilt top. 16. Sew one 31⁄2" x 651⁄2" Owl–C8367 Brown strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 31⁄2" x 531⁄2" Owl–C8367 Brown strip to the top and one to the bottom of the quilt top. Finishing 17. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing and quilt as desired. 18. Stitch the binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Fold and press the resulting long strip in half lengthwise wrong sides together. Stitch to the quilt front, matching raw edges and mitering the corners. 19.
