Watch Plymouth vs Tranmere Training Plan The general rule of thumb is to increase the distance you cycle each week by 5/10 miles. If you already ride 10 miles then the next week you should increase to 15/20 miles. If you already cycle 50 miles, then increase the mileage and also the pace. You should only cycle 3-4 times each week. Rest is as important as training so please do not over do it. You should build up to 50/60 mile rides at least twice a week and if possible to 2 consecutive days. One ride of 70/80 miles is recommended so that your body knows how it feels over that time and distance. You will also know how long you take to recover. As the ride gets close you should tail off your distance and have 3 full days rest before the event. Please consult your doctor before the event.
