Position Description
Position Summary: The CFO supervises the Business Division and is the chief financial spokesperson
for the organization. The CFO reports directly to the President, Executive Vice President, and Board of
Trustees on all strategic and operational matters as they relate to managing cash flow, budget
management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
A. (MA/MBA preferred) in Business, Management or Finance.
B. Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating with various teams.
C. Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities.
D. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to ACU’s mission and vision.
E. Five to seven years of financial experience, preferable in a non-profit setting and University
setting.
Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities (List as many categories as necessary):
A. Manage cash flow
B. Present and execute creative solutions to complex financial problems
C. Create realistic pro-forma for new programs
D. Conduct a cost benefit analysis for all University programs and analyze the financial return on
investment for all University programs.
E. Review and approve preparation and finalization of monthly, quarterly and annual financial
reports.
F. Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities including
budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration.
G. Coordinate all audit activities.
H. Manage direct reports in the Business Division.
I. Develop, communicate and implement various policies and procedures designed to maintain
internal control of financial resources of the institution.
J. Train department heads in budget preparation and management of funds.
Working Conditions:
A. Position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, lift, carry or
otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 30 lbs. This position includes
many long hours standing and walking both indoors and outdoors, exposure to extreme
heat, as well as cooler temperatures
B. Predominately works at desk/computer workstation and high volume of phone use
C. Some evenings and weekends required during peak registration times
D. Frequently moves about the office to collaborate with colleagues
