Continuous improvement in demand planning and forecasting is a must do for companies using supply chain as a source
of competitive advantage. Somehow this recognition has not helped them perform better. This master class will look at
why some firms do better than other firms in terms of demand planning and forecasting as prime mover of supply chain

Dr Rakesh Singh is distinguished professor of Supply chain strategy and Economics at great lakes
Institute of management. He is a gold medallist in MA Economics from University of Mumbai and
PhD in Demand Planning and Forecasting. He Teaches at INSEAD, Athens University of Economics
and Business and IIM Kolkatta. His Research is in the area of Supply chain Management and he
is widely published both internationally and nationally. He Has conducted numerous training
programme on supply and demand planning for corporates like Nivea, Murugappa group, L&T,
Syngenta, Rallis, Fiat, Mahindra Automotive, Dabur and John Deere Tractors. His Masterclasses
on demand forecasting for Marcus Evans and Terrapin have been very popular. He writes
frequently on demand planning and supply chain issues in SCM Pro. He is currently the chairman
of Institute of Supply Chain Management and managing editor of SCM Pro.
