By we, I mean Alex Kopp, Jackie Swartz, Carole Novak, Victoria Harvey, Diane Quick, and Loretta DiLoreto. HAA has been participating for the past three years since we’ve been members of the Bel Air Downtown Alliance and this is fulfilling our requirement; i.e., to sponsor an event once a year. Alex Kopp is our “go to person” and she had us bring in small art items, such as miniatures, tiles, and note cards to sell. We were given a prime spot--right at the front door. The jewelers, Carole and Jackie, were our most popular sellers, selling close to $350.00. Diane sold a miniature. Some notecards were sold. Then, in between, we hit the 14 different chocolate vendors with our sample tickets and went home licking our lips. The Chocolate Festival is always in early March and it is well attended with about 1,500 people coming through the doors. It was very cold still but I think people had cabin fever and were glad to get out of the house. It was a long winter. From Loretta DiLoreto Our latest list of Corporate Sponsors is at the bottom of our Welcome Page on our Website artinharford.org From the Gallery From Your Gallery Assistant - Nancy Lloyd: We have another outstanding collection of artwork on display at the Gallery. The current show, “Awakening”, runs through April 26th. Don’t miss it! Be sure to check out Susan Zanella’s gorgeous gourds and the window valences custom made by Konstantinos Damalas. Our Gallery shows keep getting better, thanks to our many talented members. Among the information that members need to know: The Library, Gallery Closing Policy, Traffic Advisory (very important), Gallery Exhibit Fees, Guidelines and Procedures for exhibiting, Honoring your commitment to sit at the gallery, Rotating Exhibit procedures, and links to the 2014 By-Laws and an explanation of the changes. All of these have significant changes. The Membership Roster is very important if you cannot fulfill your commitment to sit. Use it to contact other members to switch dates. • Members with email addresses - Your handbook was sent via email. If you could not print the attachments, please contact Pattie Stonesifer and she will see that you get a copy. • Members without email - A post card was sent to you stating that you may pick up a copy at the gallery. • New Members - Your hard copy is in a folder at the gallery. Pick up any Friday, Saturday or Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. From Pattie Stonesifer Lynn Ferris Newsletter Our members have been very fortunate for several years to attend local watercolor workshops hosted by Lynn Ferris. Attached is her newsletter with painting tips on the second page. Thank you, Lynn Ferris. Gallery Basement Cleaning The basement of our gallery is a vital part of the Association because it houses items necessary for the smooth running of our Association. On Thu, Feb 12, four HAA volunteers, Pam Burton, Helen Woodward, Pattie Stonesifer and Annabelle Thurlow met at the gallery to clean and organize it. A huge Thank You to the volunteers for rolling up their sleeves and getting it done. Please help us keep this “small but mighty” space orderly. From Annabelle Thurlow Gallery Cleaning Schedule We are having the gallery thoroughly cleaned once each month. It is vital that the gallery be kept spotless between the thorough cleanings so it makes the best possible impression on our visitors. Each member who displays art there must help us to keep the gallery clean. The Gallery Cleaning Schedule is posted in several places at the gallery. If each of us does his/her small part when we are sitting, we will present the gallery in the best possible image. From Pattie Stonesifer Gallery Resource Book What is that? Where is it? On the Point of Sale showcase is a blue notebook made just for you! The Gallery Resource Book was set up to insure that a message is passed on to the intended reader. Each time you are at the gallery, open that little blue book and see if someone left a message for you. Check the notes others have left. It might pertain to you also. In the back of the book is a place for you to leave your contact information if you take Commission Work, Teach Classes, Conduct Workshops, etc. List your contact information in the book. There is the name and phone number of an Art Appraiser and Restorer in there. List contact information of people you know who service the arts in some way. THE GALLERY RESOURCE BOOK is YOUR book. Feel free to use it. From Pattie Stonesifer “Awakening” Reception Art lovers are not fair weather folk. On Sat, Mar 14, a steady stream of visitors on a very rainy weekend day came through the gallery doors to see the new show “Awakening”. Familiar faces as well as new visitors enjoyed the array of beautiful art work on display. As usual many exhibiting members, including Rosemary Hertsch, above, were present to answer questions and converse with the guests.
