Dear Quilters,
We've got lots of fun events and classes planned for you
this Summer, and we hope you’ll help us break in our
wonderful new classroom! We’re so excited to have the
space and can’t wait to share it with you (it will be cool inside
when the weather is hot outside). Plan to join us in the shop
to learn a new technique or start a new project.
To get you started and inspired, we are once again
offering our popular Beginner’s Retreat Weekend, as well as
several other beginner classes — Fiona, Star Crossed Table
Runner, and the ever-popular Yellow Brick Road class. To
learn techniques for the completion of your quilts, Sabine will
be teaching both basic and advanced machine quilting classes,
and Jacque will show you how to make perfect bindings.
These classes fill up very quickly, so please don't delay.
If you’re ready to learn a new technique, join Mimi for
her Accidental Landscapes or 3-D Bear Quilt class, or let
Sabine show you how to make perfect curves with the Apple
Core class. For Father’s Day, Gina will show you how to turn
men’s ties into a special quilt with the Daddy’s Ties class.
We will begin monthly Charity Sews in June. HPQ will
provide all the fabric and patterns to make charity quilts for
needy families. All patterns are easy, and this is a wonderful
way to meet new quilting friends while helping others in need.
You can set aside time to meet and get to know other
quilters at our Open Sews, Handwork Sewing Circle or
Charity Sews. Cindy will be back with her First Aid with
Cindy classes; let her get you back on track with your UFO.
If you are a night owl, join Pat for our Friday night sew-ins.
We offer private, one-on-one classes as well.

CLASSES
HPQ reserves the right to cancel classes with less than 4 people. You may transfer or cancel up to
3 days before class; if less than 3 days, no refund/credit is due.
*** If a class requires you to bring your sewing machine, you must know how to operate your
own sewing machine before coming to the class. If you need help with this, please contact
the shop prior to signing up for a class.
 Beginner/New Quilter Classes: These are for the “absolute beginner.” No previous piecing
experience is necessary. Classes will cover basic quilting techniques for the novice.
+ Beginner-Plus Classes: Must be able to safely and accurately use rotary cutter and sew an
accurate ¼” seam. Limited piecing experience is necessary. These classes will take you a step
beyond the New Quilter level classes. Homework may be required.
 Intermediate Classes: Piecing experience is required. These classes are designed to teach
more advanced techniques. Homework may be required.

easy Layered Curves technique. No special skills or landscape fabrics are

Beginner’s Retreat
Block Support
If you’ve been wanting to learn how to get started quilting, then this is for
you! On Friday evening, we’ll show you how to choose the right fabrics for
your project and how to cut accurately using a rotary cutter. Then on
Saturday, you’ll learn how to sew an accurate ¼” seam and begin to make
your quilt blocks. You’ll learn tips and tricks for sewing them together
accurately and more easily. On Sunday, as you continue working on your
blocks, there will be time to get your questions answered and get any help
you may need.

Charity Sews
First Aid with Cindy
HPQ will provide all the fabric and patterns to make charity quilts for
needy families. You bring your sewing machine, thread, cutting mat,
rotary cutter and normal sewing tools. All patterns are easy, and this is a
wonderful way to meet new quilting friends and show your talents, while
helping others in need. We will meet each month on the third Tuesday
from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Come and sew with Cindy and finish up a project. If you need a little help,

Join Mardean in July and August as she shows a seasonal wall hanging by Bigfork Bay Cotton Company. Each month you’ll hear a lecture on technique for
that month’s wall hanging, and hear about other fun stuff in the shop! Patterns for the monthly quilt will be available for purchase that evening. As a Club
member, you’ll have the opportunity to shop after each meeting and get double punches on your red card for any purchases you make that evening!
