About art ON Istanbul art ON Istanbul, a leading Turkish contemporary art gallery that believes in contemporary art’s leading role in the crea<on of new and diﬀerent imagery, was founded in March 2011 by Nil and Oktay Duran. Located along the historical row houses in Akaretler, Istanbul, the gallery has been designed to be an interdisciplinary plaHorm where works of crea<ve thinking are exhibited, art discussions are held and recent ar<s<c tendencies are shaped and embraced. Developing a programme that enables both young Turkish and interna<onal ar<sts to present and exhibit their works of art, art ON Istanbul aims to follow two main paths. The ﬁrst is to provide an experimental area for ar<sts with diﬀerent tendencies and styles each of whom is dis<nguished in her or his unique way of discussing the latest art issues. The second is to create an open-‐ended dialogue between Turkish and the global contemporary art world. Believing that crea<ve art will pave the way for diﬀerent thoughts beyond every kind of iden<ﬁca<on and limita<on; art ON Istanbul holds ac<vi<es both in local and interna<onal areas so as to realize this belief.
