Most Versatile Australian Shepherd
The Most Versatile Aussie Award is offered to recognize the
dog that best combines the attributes of working ability and
trainability and that faithfully represents the Breed Standard.
The Versatility Chairperson and MVA Show Committee are
solely responsible for Versatility record-keeping from start to
finish. The competition will be conducted using the rules in
Chapter 1 of the MVA National Rules. Bitches in season will
run at the end of each class (or as posted) with the same
requirements as listed in the Agility/Obedience/Rally Finals.
MVA Participant ribbons will be presented on Tuesday to

Most Versatile Aussie award will be presented Friday in
conjunction with the banquet. The “Joseph Hartnagle
Memorial Award” and the “Jean and Bob Carrillo Memorial
Award” will be presented to the Most Versatile Aussie.
Conflicts: If you have a conflict with events, conformation
takes priority. Notify ring stewards 30 minutes before the ring
starts to get scheduling worked out. We will try to be
accommodating, but we must know you have a conflict. If you
do not make it to do your run by 30 minutes after the
completion of the class, we will not look for you, and you will
forfeit your run.
Most Versatile Junior
This award is for the Junior Handler who has the highest
combined scores in junior handling, stockdog and the
performance events. The dog must be owned or co-owned
by the Junior or his/her immediate family and a co-owned
dog must reside in the junior’s home 75% of the year. The
Most Versatile Junior competition will be conducted in
accordance with Section VI of the Junior Showmanship
Program Rule Book. Please write a short 100-word
description of the Junior and his/her dog to be read at the
MVJ awards presentation on Friday at the banquet. The
“Sandy Tubbs Memorial Award” will be given for the Most
Versatile Junior.
Agility
Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis by postmark date.
All entrants must be in good standing with ASCA and no entry
will be accepted for any dog or handler disqualified from the
ASCA agility program. The National Trial is one trial held over
three days and will be held in the Champion arena on a
packed dirt surface under cover. The trial will be judged by
three judges, judging in three rings, with a limit of 350 runs
per judge per day. Bitches in season will compete pursuant to
ASCA Agility Rules. Dogs jumping in the 20+” and the 24”
classes will be scored together and class placements will be
combined. Obstacles used during the trial are defined in the
ASCA Agility Rule Book.
Measuring Policy - All standard division dogs entered in 20”
or less (or VET/JH/ACE dogs entered in 16” or less) without an
ASCA, AKC, or NADAC height card must be measured at
check-in. This includes 20” jumping dogs not entered in 20+.
Please mail a copy of the approved height card with the trial
entry form. The obstacles that will be made available to the
judges include: dog walk, A-frame, teeter, closed tunnel (w/
6’fabric chute), open tunnel, tire jump (displaceable), weave
poles (24” spacing), non-winged hurdles, winged hurdles, and
double bar hurdle. All contacts have rubber surfaces; dog
walk and A-frame are slatted. Electronic timing equipment
will be used. Move-ups for the Nationals trial close on
OCTOBER 5, 2015, 5 PM CST. Weave poles and a jump will be
provided for warm-up. There is crating space available
around the agility ring area for competing dogs. In order for
the trial to run smoothly, we need helpers. Please consider
volunteering and fill out the coupons found following the
entry blanks. Agility Awards: For championship program: 1st
through 6th place rosettes, qualifying scores, HIT for Novice,
Open, Elite for the Standard Division; Junior Handler, Veteran,
Veteran 10 plus, and Over-All. For ACE program: 1st through
6th place rosettes, qualifying scores, HIT for standard division
and HIT for senior division. High in Trial Awards will be
calculated using the formula outlined in the ASCA Agility
Rulebook.
RETIRED AGILITY CLASS : For any dogs that have retired
from agility. Course will be a modified jumpers course with
10 obstacles or less. Dogs may jump 0” (bar on ground), 4”
or 8”. Please bring a 4-5 sentence intro to be read as dog
approaches the start line. Rosettes for all dogs entered.
Conformation - Altered and Intact
Conformation will be held on packed dirt. No grooming will
be allowed within the conformation arena but holding crates
will be allowed (no ex-pens). Class schedules are subject to
change and any updates will be posted at the Show Office.
Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or
agents are responsible for having their dogs at the ring when
their class is called to be judged. Neither the MSASC nor its
show committee is responsible or obligated to furnish any
service of notifying exhibitors of the start of class judging.
Dogs will enter the ring in catalog order unless otherwise
posted. A maximum of 175 dogs/bitches will be judged by
any one judge on any one day. If entries warrant, the
Conformation Secretary reserves the right to divide classes
into groups. In such case, the judge will designate which
entrants will return for class placements from each group.
Overflow will be done by the assigned judge(s) and will begin
with the 6-9 class and move through until the necessary
overflow number has been met. Awards include rosettes for
1st through 6th class placements, BOB, BOS, BOW, WD, WB,
Reserve WD, Reserve WB, and 10 Premier Dogs and 10

same manner as the Stud Dog /Brood Bitch classes. The

eligible to be part of a group. A separate entry form must be
filled out which lists the first dog in the group (the oldest

listed, but they do have to be entered in a class in the

the group (oldest) DOES NOT need to be entered in another
class in the Nationals. This is a non-regular class. 1st through
6th place will be awarded.

by sex; must have received confirmation of the WTCH title.

individual exercises in each regular class. Non-regular classes

Show Photographers
We have invited several photographers to come to the
Nationals in an effort to capture as many dogs as possible in
action. However, only the official win photographer will take
official win photos. If you win one of the placements which
require an official photo, there will be a card with your prize
that you must take to the official show photographer to have
your picture taken. This is the only way we have to keep
track of your win shots for the Aussie Times. We appreciate
your help and cooperation. ALL photographers taking photos
to be sold, including candid ring shots, must be an approved
photography vendor.
