Process Authority
Dr. Pablo Coronel, Aseptia’s Process Authority, is a world-recognized leader in the development
of processes for aseptic products and an integral part of the company’s growing technology. His
doctorate thesis, completed at North Carolina State University, centered on the use of
continuous flow microwave heating to aseptically processed foods, laying the groundwork for
the technology used by Aseptia. This technology enables the production of shelf-stable food
products that maintain freshness, flavors and nutrients without using preservatives.
During his work for Aseptia and its subsidiary Wright Foods, as Vice President of Research and
Development, Coronel developed processes that resulted in safe products of the highest
quality. His work has resulted in more than 45 products filed with Food and Drug
Administration (FDA), which are now in the market with an excellent safety track record.
Coronel’s prior experience includes Unilever, specifically research and development, as well as
work in the food industry in his home city of Quito, Ecuador.
His accomplishments include the 2015 Industrial Scientist Award from the Institute of Food
Technologists and the 2009 USDA-ARS Technology Transfer Award.
Coronel graduated from the National Polytechnic School in Quito, Ecuador with a degree in
chemical engineering. He earned both his Master of Science and his PhD in food science from
North Carolina State University. Coronel was a Fulbright Scholar during his M.S. studies.
