Artists Information Pack
Ashby Arts Festival Open Art Exhibition provides an opportunity for all artists, young
& old, amateur or professional, to exhibit and sell their artwork, as well as giving the
general public a chance to buy the exhibits.
Exhibitors should be 16 years or over to exhibit paintings, drawings, mixed media,
ceramics, sculpture and woodwork – so there is something for everyone.
A hanging fee of £2.00 per framed exhibit and 75p per mounted browser exhibit.
Commission taken on any sales from the exhibition are a valuable contribution
towards the Festival funds to help ensure its continuation and the commission has
been set at 15% in the hope that this will encourage more participation.
There will be a Best in Show prize of £100 with a Runners Up Prize of £50.00.
This years’ exhibition will be judged by Jane Betteridge who is a well know and
talented local artist. Judging will take place on Saturday morning 23rd May and prizes
will be presented at The Ivanhoe Gallery at 11.00 am. There will also be a Peoples
Prize of £50 for the artwork most loved and voted for by the general public.
Jane Betteridge will also be doing a Book Signing session of her new book
‘Watercoours Unleashed’.
There will be music in the Galleries by talented local musicians and Roots Choir will
be singing. Look out for all the events on the Festival Programme .
If you would like to exhibit, please complete and return the application form, along
with your entry fee, to the Tourist Information Centre, North Street, Ashby. Please

Closing date for applications is 5.00 pm on Friday 15 May 2015
Receiving date for paintings is Friday 22 May 2015, between 5.00 pm & 6.00 pm at
Ivanhoe College, North Street, Ashby.
Initially we are restricting the number of entries to 6 framed entries and 6 browser
entries. However, professional artists who would like to exhibit more pieces should
notify us and this will be accommodated wherever possible once the exhibitor
numbers have been finalized.
Please spread the word and tell your friends and fellow artists. Additional entry

OPEN ART EXHIBITION
TERMS & CONDITIONS – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY














All submissions to be placed before a selection committee who will be
responsible for hanging the work. All work must be Artists’ original work and
not copied.
The exhibition is open to professional and amateur artists over the age of 16
years.
Up to 6 pieces of framed work may be submitted and 6 pieces of mounted
work for the browser display.
The committee reserve the right to reject work, though non-selection may not
necessarily be a reflection of the quality of the submission.
Work requiring a cabinet for display or security cannot be accepted.
Paintings to be hung must be mounted and framed and mounts and frames
must be undamaged.
All work must be labeled on the back with the artists name, contact details,
title, medium and price .(including 15% commission levied to go towards
festival funds) and the same information securely attached to a tie-on label on
a string which can be hung over the front of the work.
It is recommended that corners of the work are protected.
Canvasses should have eyelets with a string across for hanging.
Work cannot be removed prior to the exhibition closing (unless authorized)
There will be no unauthorized alteration to the exhibit labels.
The selection committee, or the Ashby Arts Festival accept no liability for
damage or loss of work which may occur, despite careful handling and it is
recommended that artists have individual insurance cover.
Submission fees must be paid at the time of application. £2.00 per framed
exhibit and 75p per browser exhibit. Please make cheques payable to AshbyArts Festival and send to Tourist Information Centre, North Street, Ashby.
