At Asia Boston International School, English is the principle medium of instruction. Our academic program is based
on the American educational system. This program is custom designed to be appropriate for the students and
development of the education of youth of all nations. This Western curriculum is entwined with the local
surroundings of distinctive Thai cultural values and traditions, which shape the morals and values of learners at all
levels. The school program is a continuum of instruction from preschool through Grade 6, which will prepare our
students for success in a diverse global society.
Admission Requirements
Asia Boston International School (ABIS) accepts students at any time of the year, provided that the student meets the
required academic expectations.
Any student who desires a quality English education and willingly supports the standards and goals of ABIS is
welcome to apply. To qualify for admission, all students are required to pass a mandatory entrance exam. Students
who record below the required standard for English will be placed in English Language Development (ELD)
program, provided all other requirements are satisfactory. Prior to admission, the candidate will also have to appear
for an interview after the written examination.
Applicants must be physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially ready for school. Any special needs required by
an applicant must be disclosed and discussed at the time of application. A candidate with special needs would only
be turned down if it is assessed by ABIS that the candidate’s needs cannot be met by ABIS.
Age Requirements of Applicants
The following age requirements must be met before enrollment.




K 1 students must be at least 3 years of age.
K 2 students must be at least 4 years of age.
K 3 students must be at least 5 years of age.
Grade 1 students must be at least 6 years of age.
Any request for exceptions to these regulations should be made in writing to the school’s Academic Committee.
Application Procedure
A student who wishes to apply at ABIS should take the following steps.
1. Visit the school to view the facilities.
2. Collect the application form from the admission office.
3. Submit a completed application form, along with the following documents, at the Registrar’s Office:
 A copy of the student’s passport/birth certificate
 A copy of any needed residency certificates
 3 passport sized photos of the student (1” x 1”)
 2 passport sized photos of each parent (1” x 1”)
 All records from previous schools (report cards/official transcripts and recommendation letters)
 All health records (signed by a certified physician)
 Make an appointment for an admission/placement test.
4. Take the necessary test to determine placement. Students who need to enrich their English language will be
placed in the ELD program.
Registration Procedure
Students who are accepted should follow these steps for enrollment:





Register on the designated dates at the Registrar’s Office.
Present the Tuition and Fees form to the Admissions officer at the Information Center and receive student’s
ID to make the payment.
Pay the school fees at the Cashier’s Office or finance office. (For further information on payment options,
please refer to Educational Fees.)
Purchase school uniforms and needed school supplies from the School Store.
Collect required textbooks from the Book Repository.
Placement Tests
Grade placement for any student entering ABIS is based on the school’s evaluation of the student’s educational
background and competency in English.
Both written and oral tests are conducted only in English. Determining the applicant’s proficiency in the English
language is based on:
English Language Skills: Language/Speaking, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammar and Syntax.
Mathematics Skills: Computing, Problem solving, Word problems
Transcripts and Letters of Recommendation
Students requiring transcripts and letters of recommendation must do the following:




Obtain the form from the Registrar’s Office.
Fill in the form and submit the request to the Registrar’s Office.
Collect the transcript/letter from the Registrar’s Office after three working days.
If three or more copies of transcripts/letters requested from the Registrar, a fee will be charged.

 Friday : 8:30 a.m. to 2:20. p.m.

Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Friday : 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Office Hours
 Monday to Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
 Saturday to Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Application Fee
A one-time Application Fee is charged to each student. This must be paid before the application process
begins, and is non-refundable.
Documents needed for registration
The following documents should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office:
1. Completed and signed application form
2. Copy of passport or birth certificate of the student
3. Copy of residence certificate (Thai students only)
4. 3 passport size photos of student (Size 1 x 1 inch)
5. 2 passport size photos of father and mother (Size 1 x 1 inch)
6. Previous school records (Report Cards, Official Transcripts, Recommendation Letter)
7. Health records (Signed by a physician)
