Police Inspector, Intelligence Center against Terrorism and Organized Crime (CITCO), Ministry of the Interior (Spain) - The experience of the Spanish Police in developing a special intelligence unit in response to the rising threat of Jihadist terrorism.
On 10 October 2014 the Spanish Government created CITCO, integrating the National Counter-Terrorism
Coordination Center (CNCA) and the Intelligence Center Against Organized Crime (CICO). This fusion was
deemed necessary due to the fact that terrorism and organized crime pose two major threats to national and
international security in the twenty-first century. In addition, criminal organizations and terrorist groups have
proven flexible, dynamic and elusive to the action of authorities to date. The evidenced links, meanwhile, between terrorism, which includes the threat posed by militant jihadists, and organized crime, requires a coordinated response, such as the establishment of CITCO which aims to protect Spanish citizens and interests at

THE VENUE,
Pohjoinen
Uunisaari, 00140
Helsinki
The UUNISAARI ISLAND
Uunisaari Island
is located close to Hel-
sinki city centre, offering a tranquil and relaxing seaside atmosphere. Close to the harbour, the island is a short 3-minute boat ride
from the beach at Kaivopuisto Park.
Uunisaari restaurant offers a setting for special occasions, such as corporate events,
weddings, celebrations, meetings and conferences. There are also sauna facilities. Terraces and dressing rooms can be found in all
three saunas. In the winter time there is a
hole in the ice where you can swim if you've
got the courage! Uunisaari is actually two
islands together, North and South Uunisaari,
and they are separated by a narrow channel.
Until the late 1800’s the islands were mostly used for agricultural purposes, until the land was
rented out for industry. The building that will be used for ASIS Nordic Days 2015 was built in the
late 1800’s and for many decades was a boat paint factory, although during the Second World War
it was used for storing weapons and building caskets. After the war the building was empty for
many decades until its transformation into a privately-owned restaurant and event facility.
How to get there:
Uunisaari (Pohjoinen Uunisaari, 00140 Helsinki) is serviced by a dedicated boat with capacity for 45 per-
sons, which is provided free of charge for those travelling to Uunisaari. Attendees can catch the
boat at Kompassitori marked on the map, as shown.
DIRECTIONS
The boat is available for transfer and staff will be available at the dock to assist. Look for the ASIS Finland sign
at the dock.
