Sew-ology Gazette Dear Material Girl, July-August-September 2014

Sew-ology Gazette
July-August-September 2014
Dear Material Girl,
Summer is here and the heat doesn't have Material Girls slowing down. We will be bustling with events this
summer! Please note that we will not be open July 4th weekend. We will be closed both on Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th. We will resume regular hours on Monday, July 7th. Have a safe and fun holiday weekend!
This quarter is our Fall Pillowcase Marathon for ConKerr Cancer. We hope that you will be able to participate.
Whether it is cutting, donating fabric, washing, sewing, or bagging, every little bit helps in bringing a smile to a sick
kiddo. Mark your calendar for the 2014 Quilters’ Quest– November 7-16. We will again be offering a bus tour on November 14th and 15th. More details will be coming soon so watch your email.
The Row by Row experience begins on July 1st and continues through September 2nd. This is a shop hop type
event with no fees, no passports and all summer to play! Simply visit any of the participating shops and receive a free
pattern for a row in a quilt. Combine your rows in any way to create a unique quilt that represents the fun you had
traveling throughout the summer. Travel with friends, discover new quilt shops and have fun collecting rows! Collect
patterns and custom license plates at each store. Visit www.rowbyrowexperience.com for more information and for a
list of participating stores across the country.
Enjoy your summer and we hope that you will squeeze in a little time to visit us!
Thank you for your continued support and keep on sewing,
Amy, Robin, Wendy, and Mike
September is Childhood Cancer Month. Join us in helping to make pillowcases for the approximately 44,000 children
that are currently battling cancer across North America. Help Material Girls and ConKerr Cancer reach their goal of
sewing at least one pillowcase for each child currently in treatment during the month of September.
Join us on Saturday, September 6, 2013 from 10:00 am –3:00 pm
to sew pillowcases to help bring miles of smiles to a child’s face.
Material Girls and ConKerr Cancer MD will be providing all pillowcase kits. Please bring neutral colored thread for construction.
A limited number of sewing machines and sergers will be available for use. Please feel free to bring your own as well.
Can’t make it on Saturday? Don’t worry, we will be doing our annual September drive for the entire
month. For every 5 pillowcases made, washed (unscented detergent and no dryer sheets), bagged
(quart size ziploc), and turned in at Material Girls will earn you an entry into our Pillowcase Raffle. Or
donate 5 child themed pillowcase kits between now and September 6 to be assembled and earn an
entry into our pillowcase raffle too.
How great would it be to win a Material Girls Gift Card to replenish your stash?
