hen a family tragedy derails Henry Phillips’s college studies, he’s left unmoored
and feeling abandoned. Although Henry tries to find escape in bad company,
the only things that can tamp down his anger and grief are the family farm, his fiddle,
and sweet but unusual pre-teen Mayfair Hoffman.
Unfortunately, Mayfair’s older sister, Margaret, with the freckles and cute, turned-up
nose, has the opposite effect. Worse, she’s his grandmother’s housekeeper and helper,
so she’s always around and ready to push his buttons. At first he thinks she doesn’t care
about his loss, before beginning to understand she’s facing her own struggles. Mayfair’s
health and unique gift sit at the heart of those worries, and Henry and Margaret soon
find themselves relying on each other as both Henry’s future and Mayfair’s life are put
at risk.

Excerpt
The mornings were the hardest.
Every bone ached, every scar
throbbed. His wrist no longer bent back
fully, and on nights when he slept on his
side without realizing it, he was unable
to move that side without pain for most
of the day.
Caleb greeted this morning like any
other, with an assessment of these pains.
But I can still move, he thought as he
rubbed his feet. He squeezed his leg with
his sword hand as hard as he could. The
fingers pressed hard into flesh. He still had
his battle grip. When that softened, he
would be done, but it was still nearly as
strong as when he had first picked up
a weapon.
Now he rolled onto his knees and
paused, giving the joints time to loosen
before he stood. He would be fine once
he was up and his blood flowed through
his veins. It was just the wakeup, he told
himself. Just the wakeup.
He exhaled slowly, then with a grunt, he
forced his back to straighten and pushed off
of the ground. The muscles relaxed, and he
was up. As he stretched, he remembered the
first time he had been roused by a training
master many years before. Shouting, kicking,
he had three counts before he was supposed
to be fully dressed with weapon in hand.
Now it felt like it was three counts just to
open his eyes.
“Enough,” he said aloud to himself in the
dark tent.
The wind battered the tent and he heard
the thumping sound of heavy raindrops.
He scowled.
It would be another day of delays. Delays
were lost advantage. Delays favored the enemy.

wo men were brave enough to tell the truth about what awaited the Hebrews in Canaan. This is their
story. From the slave pits of Egypt to the efforts of an eighty-five-year-old Caleb as he drives out the
last of the giants, Shadow of the Mountain is a vivid portrait of two of God’s chosen champions, and a
meditation on masculine mentorship and the challenges and blessings of growing older.
For the sake of his new God and his loyalty to his friend Joshua, Caleb will not spend his twilight years
resting, but taking the battle to the enemies of God’s people until his dying breath. From his early days
as a mercenary for Pharaoh in Egypt watching the Hebrews suffer under the yoke of slavery, all the way
through a desperate fight with giants in the dark forests of the hill country, this is a story filled with epic
battles, gritty intensity, and supernatural events that made Graham’s Lion of War series a hit. Shadow of
the Mountain is sure to ignite a love for the Old Testament in popular culture.

bducted at the age of sixteen and coerced into assisting the Jacoby crime family, Shannon Bliss has
finally found a way out. She desperately wants to resume some semblance of normal life, but she
also knows she has some unfinished business to attend to. She has enough evidence to put her captors
behind bars for a very long time.
When Shannon contacts private investigator and former cop Matthew Dane to help her navigate her
reentry into society, she quickly discovers that gaining her freedom doesn’t mean her troubles are over.
For one thing, her brother is the leading candidate in the race for Illinois governor, and news of her escape
will create a media frenzy. For another, the ransom her family reportedly paid years earlier appears to have
been a scam; no one knows what happened to the money. And then there’s the fact that Shannon’s
escape involved faking her own death. If the Jacoby family learns she is still alive, they’ll stop at nothing
to silence her.
If justice is to be done, and if Shannon’s life is ever to get on track again, Matthew will need to discover
exactly what happened to her—even if it means stirring up a hornet’s nest of secrets.

second pack hooked on.
She screamed.
They flew. There was no more rolling. No
more aspens. No more rocks. They soared.
Tucker saw the walls of the cliff rushing past
and knew where they were. Worse yet, he knew
where they were going to land. “Are you crazy?”
He’d just been killed by a woman as wild as
he was. Well, he wasn’t killed yet. But it was only
a few minutes ahead of them.
They hit the water so hard it was like
slamming into granite. The water took over trying
to kill him as it swept him forward, pulled him
under, and slammed him into a wall all at the
same time, then threw him over another cliff.
Those little black curls that had him so curious—
and the woman they were attached to—had just
thrown him into the worst stretch of water maybe
in the whole Rocky Mountains. What did Tucker
know? Maybe in the whole world. All he could do
now was hang on to the woman and try to keep
them both alive, which he very much doubted he
could do.
He grabbed the whip he kept on his belt
and lashed them together. It seemed like the
gentlemanly thing.
He slammed up against a rock and was dragged
under and took her with him. His attempt to save
her might get her killed. Maybe he oughta let her
loose. Before he could give that plan much thought,
they went flying again. She screamed in his ear fit to
leave him deaf for the rest of his life. Of course, his life
probably wasn’t gonna be all that long so what did it
matter if he was deaf?
Blast it, all he’d wanted was to go see a few golden
eagles. Was that too much to ask?

become the best nanny the East Coast has ever seen. Unfortunately, her playfulness
and enthusiasm tend to bring about situations that have employers looking askance at
her methods. After her most recent dismissal, Millie is forced to return yet again to an
employment agency.
Everett Mulberry has suddenly and quite unexpectedly found himself responsible for
three children he’s never met. Attempting fatherhood while also pacifying the less-thanthrilled socialite he intends to marry is made even more complicated when the children

At wit’s end with both Millie and Everett, the employment agency gives them one last
chance—with each other. Everett is wary of Millie’s penchant for disaster, and she’s not

more focused on achieving the coveted status of society’s upper echelons. As he investigates

ilas Jonesey’s life in Salt Flatts, Kansas, has not followed the course he imagined. After
his mail-order bride, Lucinda, abandoned him, it was an uphill battle to recover from
a pattern of poor choices and sour moods. Now his prayers for reconciliation have finally
come true; his estranged wife has contacted him after ten years of silence to tell him of
her whereabouts.
Kate Dawson was supposed to be a mail-order bride, but after realizing she had been

Silas and Kate disagree over who should raise young Anthony, who has opinions of his
own about his future. After being forced to come together for the good of Anthony, Silas
and Kate begin to see another side to each other and the possibility of a united future
despite all that stands between them. When Kate’s past comes to light, Silas’s feelings
about women who abandon their grooms immediately throw the walls right back up
between them. Can Silas, Kate, and Anthony’s wounded souls bind them together as a

Excerpt
Gil’s palms grew damp. Seeing
that Mr. O’Leary had paid for his
education, the least Gil could do was
repay him with some bookkeeping
and financial advice. He only hoped
Mr. O’Leary didn’t expect him to stay at
Irish Meadows forever.
Mr. O’Leary lit his pipe, took a long
draw on the stem, and blew out a
fragrant swirl of smoke. “Gilbert, you’re
twenty-one now. I know I have no right to
ask, but I need a favor from you.”
Gil’s stomach tightened. From the grim
look on Mr. O’Leary’s face, it couldn’t be
anything good. “What kind of favor?”
“You’ve met Arthur Hastings, the
banker, haven’t you? I want you to begin
courting his daughter, Aurora. Your alliance
could tip the balance in our favor when we
apply for a business loan. She’s about your
age and not a hardship to look at.”
Gil curled his fingers around the
arms of the leather chair. He had no interest
in courting another woman—unless it
was Brianna. But of course that was out of
the question.
Gil loosened his tie in an attempt to get
more air. “With all due respect, sir, I’ve just
broken off one relationship. I’m hardly ready
to begin courting someone new.”
“I understand your reluctance to jump into
a new alliance. At least meet the girl and see
what you think.”
“Mr. O—I mean, James—you know I’d do
anything I can to help, but—”
“I know you would, son. That’s why I’m
counting on you to save Irish Meadows from
financial ruin.”

rish immigrant James O’Leary has spent his life building Irish Meadows into a thriving horse farm and

Brianna and Colleen O’Leary know their father expects them to marry well. Yet despite his wishes, Brianna, the quieter sister, dreams of attending college. Vivacious Colleen, meanwhile, is happy to marry—

Gripping Sophomore Novel from a Rising
Historical Romance Talent
•• “. . . [a] heart-rending tale of love, loss, and
redemption.”—Library Journal Starred Review on
For Such a Time
•• Set in 1917 England and features the relationships
of the glittering aristocracy with the gentry and
working classes

exquisite historical detail will appeal to fans of

•• “Breslin’s debut novel is a must read.” —RT Book

ith Britain caught up in WWI, Jack Benningham, heir to the Earl of Stonebrooke,
has declared himself a conscientious objector. Instead, he secretly works for the
Crown by tracking down German spies on British soil, his wild reputation and society
status serving as a foolproof cover.
Blinded by patriotism and concern for her brother on the front lines, wealthy suffragette Grace Mabry will do whatever it takes to assist her country’s cause. When she
sneaks into a posh London masquerade ball to hand out white feathers of cowardice,
she never imagines the chain of events she’ll set off when she hands a feather to Jack.
And neither of them could anticipate the extent of the danger and betrayal that
follows them—or the faith they’ll need to maintain hope.

His hold broke and she rolled to her feet.
He did the same and moved fast. She caught
a blow to the stomach and went back to
her knees.
A hard fist landed on her shoulder
and she couldn’t stop the cry from escaping
her lips.
She struggled for breath even as she
searched for the front door. He was strong
and knew the layout. She was hurting and
couldn’t see.
Time to run.
She rose to her feet and whirled for the exit
as he moved in for another hit. She ducked and
spun. His fist whistled past her nose and she
knew if he managed to connect with her face,
she was down for the count. She tripped and
went down, her knee kissing the floor with a
hard thud. She cried out and rolled, scrambled
up and to the door. Her fingers wrapped around
the knob.
“Oh no you don’t,” he barked. A hand grasped
her shoulder and gave a hard jerk. She went
down again, this time slamming her elbow
against the floor. Pain shot through her arm.
But she recognized the voice. “Ian? Stop!” she
gasped. “Stop.”
A low growl to her left. Nails clicked on the
hardwoods. Jackie froze.
“Off Gus.” His hand flexed. Released.
Her stomach hurt, her shoulder, knee and elbow
throbbed. She fought to catch her breath.
Her weapon still rested in the holster under her
left arm.
“Who are you?” he demanded in a low voice.
“Jackie . . . Sellers.” She needed a minute. He had
a hard punch. Her stomach cramped and nausea
swept through her. She thought she could take care
of herself just fine, but he had some wicked good
fighting skills.
Silence. “Jackie?”

Excerpt
“Maybe we shouldn’t be here.” Charlie’s
words could barely be heard above the
howling wind.
Elizabeth was beginning to think the
same, but time had nearly run out. Within
days, she must sail for Charleston, where
she was expected to secure a prominent
match. That meant leaving her beloved
Key West and the man who had captured
her affections. Today might be her only
opportunity to change the course her parents
had set out for her.
She and Charlie had nearly reached the
harbor, where Rourke O’Malley’s wrecking
sloop was moored. Just thinking of him
bolstered her courage. Though the rain now
pelted down, ruining the fine blue muslin
gown she’d donned just for him, maybe he’d
see her as courageous.
“Can we go home?” Charlie asked.
She yanked her brother toward the
wharves. “We need to secure our skiff.”
The twelve-foot boat belonged to Charlie,
but he went sailing only when she bribed
him. She adored the freedom of the turquoise
seas and seized every chance to improve her
seafaring skills. That secret love cost her many an
evening helping Charlie complete his studies.
When she told her maid this morning why
they must leave the house in such weather,
Anabelle had shaken her head and proclaimed
that Mother would tan both their hides when
she found out.
“We will be home before Mother returns,”
Elizabeth had assured her. She could wriggle
anything past the girl who giggled with her every
night after the lamps were blown out. “She’ll never
know we were gone.”
The striking, caramel-colored maid grinned.
“You’re a fool for him.”
Elizabeth had pretended she didn’t know who
Anabelle meant, which was silly, considering
their every conversation centered on him. Rourke
O’Malley wasn’t the richest wrecker in Key West,
but he was by far the handsomest and most daring.
His bronzed skin and eyes the color of the emerald
depths made her stomach flutter. His smile left her
speechless. For the first time in her life, she’d seen an
advantage to being born female.

hen her mother dies, Elizabeth Benjamin heads home to Key West, determined to transform
herself into the perfect Southern belle her parents always wished her to be. But nothing goes
according to plan. Her crippled brother resents her, the servants do not obey her, and Rourke O’Malley,
the dashing man she vowed to forget, refuses to relinquish his hold on her heart. Worst of all, it becomes
painfully obvious that her father is not the upright man he appears to be.
As family secrets come to light, Elizabeth is faced with a difficult choice: to do her duty and
abandon her dreams, or to leave her life of privilege behind to chase the man her father sees as little
better than a pirate.
From the first emotional page, author Christine Johnson throws readers into a world of impossible
choices, hidden desires, and heart-melting romance in the steamy south. Readers will cheer for Elizabeth
and Rourke as they battle the odds and the elements to secure their future.

Point, Mississippi
•• Homicide detective Livy Reynolds must work
closely with the distractingly handsome Alex
Jennings to solve the mystery
•• Will appeal to fans of Irene Hannon and

I
t’s been more than two years since homicide detective Livy Reynolds’s cousin
disappeared from Logan Point. Unlike most people in her hometown, Livy has never
believed that Robyn left voluntarily. When Dallas private investigator Alex Jennings
contacts Livy concerning a missing senator’s daughter who was last seen in Logan
Point, she notices eerie similarities between the two disappearances. But with
self-doubt plaguing her and an almost instant dislike of Jennings, Livy is finding this
investigation an uphill battle. With her future in law enforcement on the line, can she
find a way to work with a man who is her polar opposite?
Award-winning author Patricia Bradley keeps readers on the edge of their seats
as they anticipate the outcome of the case—and the relationship between Livy and
Alex—which is anything but certain.

The fist banging against the door
made her jump. The dog tensed beside
her, but didn’t make a sound.
“Carlyn, open the door. I know you’re
in there.” Curt Whitlow banged on the
door again.
“Give the woman a chance to come to
the door, Whitlow. You’re apt to scare her
beating on the door that way.”
The other man’s voice was calm with a
sound of authority. Carlyn shut her eyes a
moment. It wasn’t her house. She hadn’t
been able to pay Curt Whitlow his due on
it. He’d let her ride for almost a year because
of Ambrose fighting for the Union, but
when Ambrose didn’t come home after the
war ended, his patience ran out.
Now he was answering the man outside.
“The Widow Kearney’s not that easy to scare.”
That word made her shake inside. Widow.
It was harder to believe it wasn’t true. She
hadn’t heard from Ambrose since Vicksburg in
June 1863. Over two years ago. But she had
no proof he was dead. The Army said missing.
Missing wasn’t dead. Ambrose might yet find
his way home. It was a hope as fragile as the
spun gossamer of a spider web. Even so, she’d
made Ambrose a promise till death do them
part and until she was sure death had parted
them, she’d keep that promise.
But whether she was ready to admit being a
widow, she was losing her home.
A rap on the door brought her back to the
problem at hand. A polite knock. “Open the door,
Mrs. Kearney. Please.”

Tracy Campbell turned into the drive
for Harbor Point Cranberries, wincing as
she bounced on the narrow bike seat.
Who knew there were so many ruts
and grooves on her two-mile route from
town . . . or that she’d hit every one? And
how could she only have noticed them
today, after making this trip thousands
of times?
Then again, she’ never been nursing a
black and blue hip or a raw palm—
all thanks to an oblivious pedestrian
who didn’t have enough sense to stay out
of traffic.
She huffed out a breath and tried
to shift her anatomy into a more
comfortable position.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t one.
At least she’d almost reached
her destination.
Keeping one eye on the bumps in the
gravel entry road, she surveyed the dikeenclosed cranberry beds on either side, the
plants lush with new growth, their pale pink
flowers creating a sea of color. Gorgeous.
Her favorite season on the farm. Or it would
be until fall, when dark red cranberries
bobbed to the surface of the flooded beds,
creating a floating scarlet island against the
brilliant blue sky.
Truth be told, every season here had a
beauty all its own.
For you, anyway.
As the stomach-knotting caveat echoed
in her mind, she squeezed the handlebars. This
wasn’t the time to dwell on the past. Not when
she was about to share some news with Uncle
Bud that had serious ramifications for
their future.

Endorsements
“A truly remarkable work. The
interweaving of three stories is faultless,
the tension explosive. The story involving
the intelligence community and military is
extremely vivid and very well crafted.
A wonderful read.”
—Keith Hazard, deputy director,
Central Intelligence Agency
“I was not prepared for this. It’s
somewhere between spectacular and
astonishingly compelling. The concept itself
is so daring that one can’t quite anticipate in
any cautionary way what is coming. Bunn’s
writing has never been stronger. The power
of his style—especially in the presentation
of situations, contexts, and geography—is
enough, more or less in and of itself, to make
the book a gripping and intense experience. It’s
the daring of the plot and the fact that it works
that astounds me most, however. Ultimately
the acid test is that after I finished, I could not
let it go. My head is still full of it; and that is a
very, very good sign.”
—Phyllis Tickle, senior contributing editor,
Publishers Weekly

eese Clawson’s work is mind-bending—literally. Her company specializes in global data analysis for
an elite group of industry executives, and now a lucrative government contract is moving her into the
realm of cutting-edge intelligence gathering. She is determined to crack the limits of consciousness—
and in doing so, the boundaries of secrets and lies. But her experiment crashes as test subjects slide
into a coma-like state. Reese is left scrambling to maintain control, drawing three disparate people into
the search for answers—an adrenaline-amped thrill junkie with altered brain chemistry, an Italian
scientist working on remote-viewing technology, and a math prodigy whose algorithms subvert
computer encryption.
Will this piecemeal team prevail when a government operative is sent to investigate? As the threads of
perception and reality become tangled and even time itself twists in unexpected directions, one warning
