Description: Crochet has made a real comeback with beautiful and modern patterns seen
on the runways and in shops all over the country. Get in on the fun now, and you could be
making some of the hottest accessories and garments in no time. This class will cover the
basics of the chain stitch, single and double crochets, and some pattern reading. Your first
project will be a cute pair of fingerless mitts.

flattering on nearly everybody. This is the perfect class to take after Crochet 101 or if

have made a hat for everyone on your list!

Description: What is a knit-a-long (or KAL for short)? A KAL is not a class—it’s a group of
knitters working on the same project together! Join Jannett and a variety of other knitters
for this series of informal get-togethers and meet some new faces. Since there will not
necessarily be instruction, we encourage you to come ready to share knitting knowledge
you already have. Our Summer KAL is “Summer Flies” by Donna Griffin. Perfect for
summer evenings, this lace motif will remind you of butterflies fluttering through your
garden.
Homework and Supplies: The light green shawl in the shop was done in two skeins of
Cascade Ultra Pima. You will need around 400 yds DK or worsted weight and needles to
get gauge. Feel free to get started before the first session if you’d like!

Description: Hats are simple, basic, and make great gifts. In this class we will use gauge
to figure cast-on numbers and then explore several standard shaping methods to close the
tops of your hats. With these few key pieces of information, you will be well on your way to
making hats of all different sizes and shapes, in whatever yarn you like all without a pattern!
Homework and Supplies: 200 yards of a yarn of your choice, a gauge swatch, 16” needles,
and double pointed needles. Please choose a needle size that is appropriate for your yarn
and gives you the fabric that you want for your hat. If possible please measure the head of
the person you are making your hat for, but don't worry if you cannot get this information—
size charts will be available in class. You must know how to knit in the round for this class.

Description: It is always such a nice idea to give everyone in your brood a hand knit gift of
their very own. Yet every year the best laid plans seem to melt away as the time ticks near
the holidays. This year, we will help you get all of your gifts done on time with less stress.
In this class we will learn how to select projects that you can complete on time, and how to
estimate finishing time for projects. You will also learn to wisely and economically select
yarn and how to determine who is “knit-worthy” on your gift list.
Homework and Supplies: Please come to class with any ideas you have for holiday knitting
(yarn, patterns, a list, etc.) and note-taking supplies.

Description: Handknit socks are fabulous to wear and fun to knit, and they make fantastic
gifts for those on your gift-giving list. While there are many beautiful patterns in books and
on Ravelry, most socks are made by following a certain set of formulas. By learning this
"sock math" you will easily be able to churn out socks of all sizes, in all different types of
yarn, all without the time consuming reading and following of a pattern.
Homework and Supplies: This class is for those who have knit at least one pair of socks,
and it is recommended but not required that you have taken Leta's Beginning Sock class.
Please bring a calculator and note taking supplies to class. If you have a sock in mind
please bring your yarn, gauge swatch and needles to class.

Description: Here is another way to make a hat, but this method does not require a gauge
swatch. Worked from the top down we will learn how to increase the stitch count through
the crown and then finish the hat with a variety of techniques. Once you have mastered
these simple techniques you will be able to simply pick up your needles and yarn and make
as many hats as you please.
Homework and Supplies: Please bring 200 yards of any yarn to class and a 40" circular for
magic loop, or DPNS and a 16" circular. Please select a needle that is suitable for your
yarn and gives you a fabric that you like for your hat.

Description: Make this great garter stitch scarf for yourself, and then make another for a
gift. This clever, easy-to-remember pattern does wonderful things with variegated yarns!

on Ravelry prior to class. One skein fingering weight yarn (handpainted or variegated
yarns look particularly stunning), one stitch marker, and a US 3 needle, 24” or 32”.

Description: Lets spend a little time working on toes! In this class we will work several
toes from the bottom up and from the top down. Whether you knit socks with or without a
pattern, you can easily adjust the toe to fit just right. We will discuss increases, decreases,
Judy's Magic Cast-On and the Kitchener Stitch. (homework listed on next page)
Homework and Supplies: Please bring some smooth worsted weight yarn and DPNS or
long circular for magic loop. If you are ready to begin a toe up sock you are welcome to
bring your sock yarn and needles as well.

Description: Gorgeous and useful, these mitts are sure to please whomever you give
them too, or you could please yourself by keeping them! Becki will walk you through all of
the steps involved in these mitts, including adding the beads and keeping up with the
pattern.
Homework and Supplies: Please bring the “Beaded Eyelet Cable Fingerless Gloves”
pattern to class. You will need yarn and needles to get gauge, as well as beads. Please
come to class with the beaded rib pattern worked for 3 inches. This part has no beads.

Description: Mittens are adorable and make great, quick-to-knit gifts. This wonderful little
pattern by Susan B. Anderson is simple to follow, easy to knit and perfectly classic looking.
We will learn about the basic structure of mittens, how a thumb and gusset are made and
how to finish your mittens so they last through many snow days.
Homework and Supplies: One, or more skeins of Berroco Vintage, DPNS or long circular to
get gauge in the round. Bring the pattern, "Waiting for Winter Mittens" by Susan B.
Anderson. Please select your size and cast on and work the ribbed cuff of your mitten
before class. We will begin with the thumb gusset in class.

Description: One of our favorite designers, Ysolda Teague, has created this lovely beret
with a lattice cable pattern. The pattern allows for three different styles: a fitted beret, a
slouchy snood-like shape, or a style somewhere in between. Let Leta walk you through
style selection and techniques to make this hat so you can have one or two (or more!) done
by the gift-giving season.
Homework and Supplies: You will need approximately 200 yards worsted or aran weight
yarn (you may need around 230 yards if you decide to do the very slouchy version) and
needles to get gauge. Please complete brim ribbing and bring pattern to class.
