Interschool Series 2015 Prizes
Ribbons will be awarded up to 6th place in each
class.
Overall Champions will receive a rug and sash;
Reserve Champions will receive a sash in each level.
Best 4 scores will be taken from each school to determine the overall champion
school for the competition.
Winning school team will receive a perpetual shield and sashes.
Team placing 2nd will receive sashes.
PLEASE NOTE:
Competitors enter via Park Lane.
Yard holders only enter via Millers Lane.
It is a requirement of the Lancefield Equestrian Reserve that all manure be
picked up and taken home with you.

EVENT DEFINTIONS
“TWO PHASE” ARTICLE 274 (5.3)
A competition comprising two phases run without interruption. The finishing line for the first phase is starting line for the
second phase. There will be eight or nine fences in the first phase and four, five or six fences in the second phase including
one combination.
Competitors incurring a penalty in the first phase, exceeding the time allowed, will be halted by the bell after completing
the first phase. Competitors will be placed according to penalties and time in the second phase and, if necessary to their
penalties and time in the first phase.
“GRAND PRIX” ARTICLE 261 (5.2)
This competition is designed to encourage better jumping by making performance over obstacles the principal factor. The
competition consists of two rounds, plus a Jump-Off for a limited number of riders.
ROUND 1 All riders take part in Round One with ten, eleven or twelve obstacles, including at least one combination. The
“Time Allowed” is calculated using a speed of 275m/min for “Freshman”, 300m/min for “Improvers”, “Progressive” and
“intermediates” and 325m/min for “Advanced” and “Stars”. Time penalties apply if the “Time Allowed” is exceeded (1
penalty per four seconds or part thereof). The “Time Limit” is twice the “Time Allowed”.
Any rider exceeding the “Time Limit” is eliminated.
ROUND 2 All riders, including those who were eliminates or who retired during Round One, may take part in Round two.
Riders ride the same course with the same obstacles (expecting that the number of obstacles in Round Two may be reduced
to a minimum of eight) in the same draw order as for Round One, expecting that all obstacles in Round Two are raised
5cm. Time penalties again apply.
JUMP-OFF All riders who have ridden two clear rounds take part in the Jump-Off. The Jump-Off will consist of a
minimum of six obstacles, including a combination. All obstacles in the Jump-Off are raised a further 5cm. Riders in the
Jump-Off, ride in reverse order to their aggregate penalties and, if on equal penalties, to their time incurred in Round Two.
PLACINGS Riders who take part in the Jump-Off, are placed according to their aggregate penalties, including their penalties
in Round One and Round Two which are carried forward into the Jump-Off, and, if one equal penalties, to their time incurred
in the Jump-Off. The remaining riders are placed according to their aggregate penalties in Round One and Round Two and,
if on equal penalties, to their time incurred in Round Two.
Rules of Competition
This competition is affiliated with Equestrian Australia. EA members must put EA number on entry form.
Eligibility
Competition is open to all currently enrolled primary and secondary school students.

Conditions
 EA rules apply, these can be found at www.equestrian.org.au or www.vic.equestrian.org.au
 Schools must nominate a suitably experienced Team Manager. Team Managers are responsible for gear
checks. Inappropriate gear will result in elimination.
 All riders must be currently enrolled at the school they are representing or an approved feeder school and
MUST be accompanied by an adult.
 All riders must wear currently approved helmets and boots whilst mounted. School equestrian uniform
including white, beige, fawn, or banana jodhpurs must be worn in all competition and for presentations.
Jackets are permitted for Advanced and Stars.
 Freshman Primary is for primary school students only.
 No riders other than those competing are allowed to ride on the grounds.
 One horse, one rider rule applies. Rider may ride more than one horse.
 The release and waiver from MUST be filled in and signed by rider/parent/guardian or school principal/
director of sport.
 Entry only accepted with full payment.
 LATE ENTRIES will pay additional $10.00 per entry, which must be paid BEFORE rider enters the ring for the
first class. Late entries will also ride early.
 Marshals are to be easily identified.
 Events may run later or earlier than advertised. Riders are expected to be aware of changes to times and
report accordingly. Riders who do not report in time to ride in their draw order may be eliminated.
 In the event of excessive entries, they will be considered in order of receipt.
 SCRATCHINGS after the close of entries: as per EA rules, a vet/doctor certificate is required for return of
entry money less $15.00 administration costs.
 Any rider deemed to be riding in an incorrect grade will be eliminated and will be required to compete at a
level deemed appropriate by the committee (after consultation with all relevant parties).
 All appeals must be lodged by the team manager on the official form available from the organising committee,
no later than 30 minutes after the incident, accompanied by $50.00, which will only be refunded if the protest
is upheld. All appeals will be considered by the Jury of Appeal on the day.
 All riders must provide own numbers as per draw, and these must be worn on both sides.
 The committee reserves the right to alter or delete any event, and refuse entry with or without reason.
 All riders must present at the secretary’s office before they compete on the day.

Northern District Interschools Series (NDIS)
The Northern District Interschool Series is open to all eligible participants of the events in this series.
Interim scores will be posted on the Assumption College website http://assumption.vic.edu.au/pages/equestrian
If a horse and rider combination has won the NDIS Championship at a particular level, they are not eligible for the
NDIS Championship at that level in subsequent years. The exception to this is if they are at the highest level on offer,
ie. Star Level/Showjumping and Medium Dressage. A Rider can compete at same level but will not be eligible for
NDIS points.
The School Team Champion and Reserve Champion for both Dressage and Showjumping will be awarded after the
conclusion of the final event of the NDIS Championships.
Scoring: Individual and Team Championships will use the following system of scoring. The best 4 scores from each
school count for the School Points at each competition.
Points will be allocated on the basis of 10pts for 1st, 9pts for 2nd and so on to 1pt for 10th place in each class. The
points are then added together over the classes of each section at each competition giving an Overall Score, highest
combined points 1st, second highest 2nd etc.
At the conclusion of the NDIS if there is more than one competitor on the same score, equal placings will be awarded.
