WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE
MINISTER FOR SPORT
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to
Lakeside Stadium for the 2015 IAAF Melbourne
World Challenge.
Victoria is very proud of its ability to host a wide
variety of quality sporting events that attract
visitors to our State, boost the economy and
encourage participation in sport throughout the
local community.
Events such as the 2015 IAAF Melbourne World
Challenge also provide a great opportunity
to showcase Victoria’s outstanding sports
facilities, in this case Lakeside Stadium.
That’s why the Victorian Government is pleased
to provide funding to Athletics Australia over
the next two years to support the staging of this
event, through until 2016.
Tonight we will see Australia’s best take on a host of international athletes as
they compete in the final event of the Australian Athletics Tour.
I wish all competitors the best of luck and welcome all visitors to this event.
During your stay I invite you to experience the vast array of attractions and
entertainment Melbourne has to offer.
The Hon John Eren MP
Minister for Sport
