when the school will pay homage
and special tribute to 50 legends
whose hard work and devotion
helped to build and develop the
institution that has educated
thousands. Additionally, 35 young
leaders under age 40 (Youngens)
who are doing impactful work at,
for, or around Mohammed
Schools will also be celebrated.
Mohammed Schools of Atlanta
originally opened in 1965 as the
University of Islam, closed in
1977, and reopened in 1980 with
a new vision and new direction
under the new leadership of Imam
W.D. Mohammed. The 50
Legends and 35 Youngens have
been carefully selected by the
Moonlight Ball Planning Team as
a celebration of the 50 years
since originally opening and 35
years since reopening.
Come and celebrate the power
of our powerful 10 teams with the
Power of Ten campaign. Find out
how much was raised and which
team raised the most. Mohammed
Schools offers special thanks to
those that worked diligently
through this fundraising project
whose goal was $100,000.
Along with the laughter and
joyous memories, there will be a
silent auction, celebration of the
Teachers of the Year, the
Principal’s Choice Awards, the Volunteer Awards, and the
Maryam Shakir Lifetime
Achievement Award. Don’t be surprised if someone tags you to
be the “Best Dressed” or to see your moves on the dance floor
and label you as the “Best Dancer.” It will be a halal good
time and celebration at this endof-year event for our school.
The Mohammed School
system here in Atlanta has
graduated thousands through the
Sister Clara Mohammed School
and 400-plus through the W.D.
Mohammed High School. Your
support, involvement and
investment is valued and meant
the world to us at Mohammed
Schools.
