Full bar & meals available Prior to the sale vendors will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their dogs ability working cattle or sheep in the area over a short course. By nominating a dog in the sale, I/we agree to be bound by any Rules, Regulations and Codes of Conduct as determined by the selling Agent, Ray White Livestock Rockhampton. Ray White Livestock Rockhampton does not accept any liability for any accident, damage, injury to dogs, handlers, beasts, ground, spectators, or any other person or property whatsoever. Dogs of any breed and age will be eligible for entry in the sale, the agent however has the right to reject or accept dogs on assessment of their working ability. All entries are to be accompanied by a photo of the entered dog and id available a maximum 3 minute video of the dog working stock for assessment and advertising purposes. Entries must be completed by owners wishing to enter dogs in the Ray White Livestock Open Dog Trial & Working Dog Sale Commission on the sale price (6% of sale price + GST) will be payable by the vendor to the Auctioneer in respect to each lot catalogued and sold. This commission is payable whether sold at Auction or private treaty. Any person involved with handling dogs on the day or the sale, within the perimeter of the grounds does so at their own risk. Sale Entry Fee $250 working dog pair, $150 (inc GST) for dogs 10 months and over and $80 (inc GST) per pups 10 months and under includes advertising and cataloguing. There will be NO REFUND of entry fee unless accompanied by a vet certificate. Dogs may however be substituted until a week prior to the sale. An Entry Fee for the Open Dog Trial of $35 is payable. Entry fee’s are to be paid prior to the event with your nomination form either via bank deposit, cheque or cash at Ray White Gracemere, Shop 1/21 Lawrie Street, Gracemere. There is no limit of dogs for the Open Dog Trial. Handlers are required to work their dog on foot, and each dog in the sale demonstration must be worked on stock. Each dog shall have 3 head of cattle (weaners where possible) 2. Should the judge deem necessary, they may order fresh cattle during the trial. 3. The competitor, with their dog will stand at a point indicated by the judge. 4. The competitor shall not be allowed to assist their dog in any way except by signal, whistle or word of mouth. All competitors may carry a whip or drafting cane but it must not exceed 24” (60cm). All competitors. 5. The competitor must walk, not trot, nor run, in a direct line from one obstacle to the next and not stop to work their dog. They must not leave the peg at the obstacle, until the cattle are clear of that obstacle, or they will be asked to rework the obstacle. 6. Points will be deducted if a competitor shifts from their position at the obstacle, dawdles between obstacles, moves off course or assists their dog by unfair manoeuvre. 7. After the expiration of half time the judge has the power to intimate to the competitor that they have no chance of making the final. 8. A dog can be disqualified for tail swinging, rough work or out of control. 9. The judge’s decision shall be final. 10. During a trial the judges shall notify the competitor by bell, whip or whistle either the expiration of time or disqualification, if necessary. 11. The organising committee in consultation with the judges will be responsible for setting the obstacles, the course and the running of a high standard trial. 12. The time starts when the competitor casts their dog. 13. The dog is being judged from the time it enters the ring until the time it leaves. 14. If the cattle have passed through the obstacle before the competitor is in position at the obstacle, the cattle must be reworked except at the pen. If the cattle enter the pen before the competitor is at the peg, the competitor must walk to the peg whilst holding the gate then close the gate to complete the course. 15. The dog will not receive a score unless the course or time is completed. Points may be deducted from: a) A tail turn b) Each time cattle circle an obstacle c) A show of disinterest by a dog d) Cattle going off course and out of position e) Dog not covering cattle and out of position f) Urinating or defecting – 5 point penalty for either g) A competitor must not touch their dog until the course is completed. POINTS CAST – 5 POINTS DRAW – 5 POINTS GATE – 10 POINTS RACE – 10 POINTS PEN – 10 POINTS GENERAL WORKS – 60 POINTS NO DELIVERY NO SCORE Note: The judge and committee have the discretion to alter the points system, as they see fit. CODE OF CONDUCT I. All competitors are required to show sportsmanship and conduct themselves with honour, integrity and decorum while in the trial arena. II. Competitors are prohibited from using foul language while competing – anyone using foul language while on the course will be penalised through the loss of points (at the judge’s discretion) and an official warning; III. The use of physical force against any dog – whether its working or not – at a trial is prohibited; IV. The use of training collar on any dog – whether its working or not – at a trial is prohibited; V. All competitors must ensure the comfort of their dogs while at a trial – i.e they have sufficient water and shelter; VI. All competitors must treat the judge with respect; VII. All competitors to acknowledge that the judge’s decision is final and that it is not subject to appeal. VIII. The abuse of judges, committee members and cattle donors will not be tolerated.
