The Government of India has recognized the importance of Indian System of Medicine and set up Central Council of Indian Medicine as a statutory body constituted by Indian Medical Central Council Act 1970. The C.C.I.M. recognizes Medical Colleges which offer B.A.M.S. & B.U.M.S. degrees, formulate policies, monitor matters pertains to education policy and register degrees for the purpose of practice all over India. Now goverment of India has established a separate department in the name of AYUSH in the Ministry of Health & Family to promote – propagate – develop and articulate Education Policy. Chaudhary a great reformist and an old scholar of Aligarh Muslim University under the auspices of A.I.M.R. & Educational Society registered under S.R. Act 1860. The Aligarh Unani & Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital is an autonomous, nonprofit making body situated opposite F.M. Tower, Anoop Shahar Road at the distance of 6 k.m.from Aligarh Railway Station and 4 k.m. from Aligarh Muslim University towards north on the Anoop Shahar Road leading to Kasimpur Power Plant. A new Unani Faculty equiped with modern instructural and clinical systems has been established at ACN City. A well connected bypass road has been constructed from the entrance in Aligarh at G.T. Road which leads straight to the Anoop Shahr Road avoiding city traffic congestion. Aligarh is situated in the midst of Do-aba, the land between the Ganga and Yamuna Rivers at a distance of 130 km South-East of Delhi on the Delhi-Howrah Northern Rail Track and on the Grand Trunk Road. The latitude is 27* 54' N and longitude is 78* 05 E. The climate is hot in summer and cold and dry in winter with intervening rainy season. (likely to increase) MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION – (ELIGIBILITY) B.A.M.S.Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) or Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects or its equivalent certificate / Diploma with the above subjects. Uttar Madhyama with Vigyan from Sampurnanand Vishva Vidhyalaya, Varanasi shall be recognized as per University guidelines. Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology are mandatory along with aggregate of 50% marks. Minimum 40% marks in Physics. Chemistry and Biology are required for the candidates belonging to SC/ST and other OBC categories. Candidates aspiring for B.A.M.S. course must have attain minimum 17 years of age as on 1st July of the responding year. B.U.M.S.Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) or Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with minimum 50% marks in aggregate are required. Minimum 40% marks in Physics. Chemistry and Biology are required for the candidates belonging to SC/ST and other OBC categories. Urdu up to class 10th with minimum 50% marks is mandatory for the candidates aspiring for B.U.M.S. course. RECOGNITION & AFFILIATION B.A.M.S. & B.U.M.S. courses are recognized by C.C.I.M. New Delhi and the institution is permanent affiliation with Chhatarpati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. (Formely known as Kanpur University). The institution also possess required permission from the Department of AYUSH, Government of India. 6 Rules and regulations for residing in the hostel of a.u.a.m.c. (for girls only) 1- The Girls Hostel of Aligarh Unani & Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospitai is situated at Lal Diggi Road, Anwarul Huda Compound, behind Kothi Taj-e-Akbar, Aligarh. 2- No girl student of BAMS/BUMS of outside Aligarh is allowed to reside privately or in a rented room other than the residence of nearest relatives or local guardians. 3- No responsibility will be born by the management of the college for those girls students who are residing with their nearest relatives or local guardians. 4- The residential students are allowed to visit their local relatives once in a week 5- The local relatives of the residential students can visit their ward in the hostel once in a week with the permission of the warden. 6- No other person will be allowed to visit the students except the local relatives. The name and address of such relatives must be entered with the warden. The residential students can move out of hostel with the written permission of the warden with their relatives. 7- In any emergency the residential students of the hostel will inform the warden and can move out of hostel with the written permission of the warden. 8- If any student of hostel is found roaming in the nearby vicinity she will be fined which is at the discretion of the warden in the first instance. 9- If she found again roaming, her parent will be informed and her admission to the college may be cancelled. 10 - If some residential students would like to start the mess collectively in the hostel, they may do so but with the permission of the warden. 7 GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. The Management and the Principal reserves the right to make additions or alterations in the existing rules, working hours, time table or mode of training as may be deemed fit from time to time. The students shall be required to abide by all the prescribed and modified rules. 2. Students who are on leave or unable to attend the classes due to unforeseen reasons, have to deposit the fees on due date. Students must attend the lectures in time. Late comers will not be allowed to attend the classes. Continuous absence for ten days from the college with out written permission shall lead to strike off the names of the students from the college. They may readmit with the permission of the principal as a fresh student and he may be required to pay all the dues as a fresh student. 3. Students will be responsible individually or collectively (as the case maybe) for any loss or damage of institutional property. 4. A student is liable to be fined up to Rs. 100/- suspended, expelled or dealt with any punishment for negligence in studies/attendance or act of indiscipline or for any misconduct in or out of the college premises, Student found indulged in Anti-Govt., Anti-National or Anti Institution propaganda will be expelled from the college immediately and he/she will have no claim of fees paid by him/her. 5. In case of any dispute between the management of the college and the students the matter will fall under legal jurisdiction of Distt. Aligarh, U.P. 6. The Rules, Regulations, Syllabus in respect of college printed in the prospectus are given in good faith prevailing at the time of issue of the prospectus. The management will be free from all liabilities in case of any change in regulation at any stage. However, in case of any change in syllabus by C.C.I.M., (New Delhi), the management reserve the right to levy additional changes for the additional study. 7. In the matters which are not covered in the said rules and regulations, the decision of the Managing Director/Principal shall be final. 8. It is the sincere desire and endeavor of the management to make the student a good and law-abiding citizen, so as to bring good name for themselves, family and the country. If student indulges in an illegal or anti-national activity the college shall not be responsible for her / his involvement. 9. The Management of the College, Principal Ayurveda / Unani Faculty reserves this right to cancel or reject any admission form. 8 10. DISCIPLINE The college pursues the ideals of training of minds, quest for knowledge and of healthy life style. It develope curiosity and imagination among students and upholds high tradition of tolerance. It lays great emphasis of mental and physical discipline and expects the students to strictly abide by the rules of progressive discipline inside and outside the classrooms. The Proctor and his staff, Proctorial Monitors selected amongst the students, maintain discipline and security on the campus. Teachers ensure orderly behavior in the college while the wardens in the hostels separately functions for girls & boys. 1 1. RAGGING Ragging in any form, as defined in Clause (V) Part 4 of Student Conduct and Discipline Rules is a punishable offense, and a student for this act of indiscipline or ragging, in accordance with clause (V)of the above rules is liable to pay fine of Rs.500. which may extend up to Rs. 2500. The student will have to submit an "undertaking" on the prescribed format to the effect that he or she shall not take part in any form of ragging and shall abide by the rules prescribed for the purpose as amended and enforced from time to time. 12. FEES The parent/guardian of each student shall furnish a written undertaking to the effect that he/she will pay all fees due towards his/her ward. If regular payment is not made, the name of defaulter shall be removed from the roll of the college by the Principal 13. COST OF PROSPECTUS The payment of the cost of Prospectus/Admission form is to be made either in cash or through a crossed demand Draft drawn in favor of the Managing Director, AUAMC Aligarh payable at the Dena Bank, Aligarh. A self addressed envelope of 29-23 cms in size affixing postage -stamps worth Rs. 50.00 shall accompany the request for obtaining the admission form-by registered post. The cost of prospectus is Rs. 1,050.00 in cash. To collect the prospectus by registered post a D.D. of Rs. 1,150.00 has to be made in favour of Principal, Aligarh Uanani & Ayurvedic Medical College payable at Aligarh. IMPORTANT INFORMATION & RULES In this booklet information/rules are given in detail and the students have to abide all the rules & regulations in sprit and words, seeking admission in this College. The fact that a candidate 9 applies for admission shall be taken to mean that he/she agrees to abide by the college rules. No litigation shall be entertained in this regard. 1. There shall, under no circumstances, be any relaxation in the eligibility criteria. A candidate shall not be entitled to claim admission as a matter of right even if he/she is otherwise eligible. The college reserves the right to refuse the admission to any individual without assigning any reason, and also the right not to disclose the marks secured by the candidates in any Admission Test/ Interview. 10 2. The college reserves the right not to admit any candidate to a course of study even though a notification inviting application for admission to the same has been issued. 3. All admissions shall be provisional. 4. If it is found that the qualifying examination of a candidate is not recognized by the College/Board/ University, such admission will be cancelled. 5. Candidates pursuing a course of study at this college or any other university/college are required to get their names removed from the rolls of the concerned university/college and should submit a certificate to this effect from the concerned authority at the time of reporting for admission. An applicant already enrolled in any course/class either at this college or elsewhere is required to get his/her admission to the said course/class cancelled before he/she can be admitted to this Institution/University. 6. No candidate will appear at two examinations simultaneously in one academic year i.e. in B.A.M.S. and B.U.M.S. both. 7. Changes made in the admission rules and/or in the eligibility criteria by the college management from time to time shall also be applicable to applicants seeking admissions. 8. Candidates are required to produce the original mark sheet, certificates etc., (document including the statement of marks of the qualifying examination with the requisite percentage of marks) at the time of interview/reporting for admission, failing which they shall not be interviewed/allowed to complete admission, and the offer of admission shall stand cancelled automatically and no further correspondence in the matter shall be entertained. 9. If it is found, at any stage, that a candidate: a) Does not fulfill the eligibility requirements; b) Has used fraudulent means to secure admission; c) Has made false or incorrect statements. d) Concealed facts. He/She shall not be allowed to appear at the interview, complete the admission formalities, or if incase already admitted, his/her admission shall be cancelled. 10. If any error/omission in the course of processing and verification of certificates/documents of any candidate found by the college, the college has the right to cancel such admission at any stage at which the error is discovered. 11. Applications of candidates whose qualifying examinations are not recognized by C. S.J.M. University Kanpur shall not be considered for admission to any course. 12. Applicants should satisfy themselves that they fulfill the eligibility requirements in terms of educational qualifications, age etc. The percentage of marks secured by a candidate at the qualifying examination, falling short by even a small fraction shall not be rounded to the next whole number. Similarly if the age falls short even by a single day, the applicant shall not be considered eligible. 13. No candidate shall be admitted unless he/she has completed all the eligibility requirements at the time of admission. Candidates awaiting results of their supplementary/compartmental/improvement examinations shall not be admitted. 14. The University reserves the right to offer some remaining seats to the candidates in the last few days of admission. in such cases the individual intimations will not be sent, and the list of candidates selected for the interview will only be displayed on the notice board of the concerned college for information of the candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidates to look out for such notices. 11 15. No employee of any public or private sector organization shall be admitted unless he/she submits a leave sanction order from the competent authority covering the entire duration of the course to which he/she is seeking admission. 16. The college shall intimate the candidates selected for admission to various courses, through registered post, regarding the dates on which they are to report in person to complete the admission formalities. The College shall bear no responsibility in case of delay or non-delivery of such intimation letters. No information shall be sent to the candidates who are not selected for the admission. 17. Candidates not reporting for admission at the stipulated time shall forfeit their chance and the offer of admission shall be made to the candidate next in order of merit. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained. 18. Candidates not selected for admission shall not be informed and their applications/fees/certificates/documents shall be returned. 19. Canvassing in any manner for securing admission shall render an applicant disqualified. 20. As per rules, 75% attendance in all courses is compulsory. In case of long absence of one month from the classes the names of the student shall automatically be removed from the roll. 21. The college receives a large number of admission forms every year and it is not 12 possible to preserves the forms and relevant material for a long period. There for in case of any dispute regarding admission, the matter must be filed within sixty days of the date of closing of admissions after which such disputes shall not be entertained. In case any dispute is filed after expiry of such period, the college shall not be bound to produce admission from and other related documents. 22. The names of students having attendance less then 30% shall be struck off from the rolls of the college. 23. If after enrolment in the college, a student does not attend his/her classes for more than one month and does not inform the Principal of the college, the reason of his/her absence, his/her admission shall be automatically cancelled. 24. The applicants are advised to fill the application form and other relevant documents with utmost care to avoid REJECTION of application. 25. Late and incomplete applications and those without requisite fee or not submitted on the prescribed form shall not be accepted and no correspondence shall be entertained regarding such applications. 26. Selected candidates shall not be allowed to complete admission formalities in absentia and the offer of admission shall stand cancelled. 27. No Correspondence Course/Distance Education Programme is being taken up by the Institution. RULES FOR CONTINUATION/RE-ADMISSION 1. The students who have been detained from appearing in examination on account of shortage in attendance or having failed to clear the minimum prescribed marks for passing in sessional wherever applicable as per rules and desire for seeking re-admission/continuation may submit their applications on the prescribed form to the Principal of the college concerned within 15 days of the reopening of the college/commencement of classes failing which, the applications received late may not be considered. All such students readmitted/granted continuation shall be required to pay prescribed fee. 2. Principal of the concerned college will consider the cases of re-admission/continuation in accordance with the rules in this regard laid down by the University. In case the admission of a student is cancelled from the roll of the University at his/her own request after passing 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year, he/she may not be allowed re-admission in the same year or next year.
