PLEASE CIRCULATE April 20, 2015 Job Posting – Summer Program Animators 2015 The Aurora Cultural Centre requires 2 (two) Summer Program Animators (“SPA”) to assist in the delivery of a series of weekly morning and afternoon half-day art-infused workshops for children ages 4 – 12. Divided into appropriate age groups for morning and afternoon programs, the successful candidates will work under the supervision of the Summer Program Coordinator to deliver a vibrant visual arts-based program. This position offers motivated, high-energy art students the unique opportunity to deliver vibrant arts programming to the community. The successful candidates will deliver the program under the direction of the Summer Program Coordinator, following the 2015 Summer Work Plan. Following the guidance of hourly, daily and weekly work plans, this hands-on position will involve working with children throughout the day. The SPA positions start on June 22, 2015 and continue until August 28, 2015. The job runs Monday – Friday, throughout the summer, with the exception of 2 paid Statutory holidays, July 1 and August 3. The hours will vary between a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 40 hours per week. The wage is $11/hour. The Centre is located in the heart of Aurora, close by to Yonge Street transit links, and easily accessible by bicycle or car. High school students (minimum age of 16), or college/university students who are passionate and enthusiastic art practitioners are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will be highly creative, energetic and enthusiastic, and be able to work with lively small children up to ‘tweens. Previous camp experience (both as a camper and/or instructor), as well as child care experience, while not required, is a definite asset. The position will require some lifting (boxes of art supplies, moving tables and chairs into position for various programs) as well as reaching up high in order to install artwork pieces on wires for gallery installations. The candidate must be in possession of Emergency First Aid, CPR-C and AED training, or willing to obtain the training at their own expense prior to the start of the job. Strong communication skills are encouraged in order to work with children, parents and Centre staff. A positive and caring attitude, coupled with creative expertise and considerable energy round out the preferred attributes for the job. The successful candidate will require a current Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police department, at their own expense.
