Current Efforts: Tactical Network
Enabling Current Operations
• Providing enduring SATCOM for Operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan
• Tactical communications supporting Operation Inherent Resolve (Iraq), Operation
Atlantic Resolve (Europe) and Pacific operations
• Delivering military and adapted commercial internet capability for Ebola response in
West Africa, supporting AFRICOM, USAID, CDC and NGOs
Tactical Network Fielding
• Fielding 75 Active Component and National Guard units with tactical network upgrades
through Capability Set Fielding and Unit Set Fielding in FY15
• JBC-P fielding and training for the First Unit Equipped: 4th BCT, 3rd ID
• 11 Infantry and Stryker BCTs, 4 DIV HQs now fielded with WIN-T Increment 2
• WIN-T Increment 1b upgrades and Technical Refresh underway
Phased Modernization
• Incremental upgrades making the tactical network more capable, more secure, more
interoperable, more lightweight and more intuitive to use
• COE improving interoperability and agility for the Army to rapidly deliver capabilities
• Part of strategic balance including divestment of legacy systems, reset and sustainment
of enduring capabilities, execution of key PoRs and pursuit of S&T priorities
