Criteria
Each year, individuals meeting the following criteria will receive an Emeritus Recognition Plaque for their outstanding Volunteer contribution to SAE
and do not need to complete a nomination form.
Those who will automatically be eligible to receive an Emeritus Recognition are those members who are fully retired (not gainfully employed), are at least 70
years old and meet at least two of the following criteria:

Former SAE President or SAE Officer

Former SAE Board of Director which includes Sector Vice Presidents

Former Chairman of a major SAE Operating Board(s) or Committee(s), including the Aerospace Council

Recipient of the SAE Medal of Honor

SAE Fellow
Members who are not automatically eligible but who meet the criteria listed below can be nominated. All submissions will be reviewed by the SAE
Membership Board.
An SAE member who is fully retired (not gainfully employed) and meets at least three of the following criteria:

Major section/academic involvement

Minimum of 10 years of SAE service

Significant involvement in standards committees (defined as drafting/co-authoring a standard)

Significant involvement in SAE technical conferences

Recipient of an SAE Award/Recognition

Contributions to SAE publications and SAE’s Professional Development courses


The purpose of the citation is to help the Membership Board determine the best candidates from the nominations submitted.
