Remember, a ¼” seam allowance is used for all seams. Fabric Requirements 3 – 6” strips of fabric A (cut the width of fabric) 3 ½ - 6” strips of fabric B (3 cut the width of the fabric and one ½ strip approx. 20” long) 1 – 6” strip of fabric C (cut the width of fabric) Inner Border Fabric – 4 strips cut 1 ½” by width of fabric Outer Border Fabric – 4 strips cut 3 ½” by width of fabric Assembling the Blocks: 1. 2. Cut one strip of fabric A in half Sew two strip sets together as follows (one set with the long strips and one set with the shorter strips). Press toward the darker fabric Fabric “A” Fabric “A” Fabric “B” Fabric “B” Fabric “A” Fabric “A” 3. Sew one strip set together as show below. Press to the darker fabric Fabric “B” Fabric “C” Fabric “B” 4. Cut these strip sets vertically into 6” strips. Sew the set together to create 5 Nine Patch blocks that measure 17” square. After the blocks are completed, cut each of your five blocks once across the center both horizontally and vertically as shown below. You will not have a total of 20 blocks. Have fun arranging them in different layouts. Assembling the Quilt: 1. Sew the blocks together in 5 rows of 4 blocks each. 2. Add the side inner borders first. Then add the top and bottom inner borders. 3. Add your outer borders in the same manner as the inner borders. First adding the side borders and then adding the top and bottom borders. 4. Batting: Use only 1/8” – ¼” low loft batting. Baste the quilt layers (either with safety pins or a needle and thread) then MACHINE quilt. This quilt will be loved and washed a lot so make sure that there is enough quilting to hold the quilt together for a long time. Remember to add quilting to the borders as well. Bind the quilt as you normally would. Make sure the binding on the front of the quilt is not more than ¼” to ½” wide. If you prefer, you can sew the quilt “Pillow case style” and quilt. Don’t forget to remove all pins. 5. Machine stitch the label around all four sides to the bottom back side of quilt 6. Wash and dry the completed quilt.
