March 22, 2015 2015 Participant Instructions Health & Fitness Expo All participants must pick up their race packets at the Expo. Remember to bring a picture ID. If you need to have someone else pick up your race packet at the Expo, please provide the person who will be picking up your packet a copy of your photo ID (copies on your phone will be accepted). Friday, March 20, 2015: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Americas Mart Building 2, 1st Floor Exhibit Hall > Directions > Parking (standard rates apply). Please be sure to leave plenty of time for downtown congestion. We encourage all participants and visitors to take MARTA. The closest MARTA stations include Peachtree Center Station, Dome, GWCC, Phillips and CNN Station. Get Your Bib Number and Save Time at the Expo! Click here to confirm your participation and receive bib number. Please use the same email you’re registered with and receive correspondence to. Your bib number will appear next to your name. Items You Will Receive at Packet Pickup Your packet will consist of your race bib with B-Tag (timing chip), race shirt and race bag. Participants will receive the shirt size they selected when registering. There will be no shirt size exchanges at the Expo. If you need to exchange your shirt size you may do so on race day at the Information Tent before or after the race. Shirt size exchanges will be based on availability. Participants may use the Publix drawstring bag they receive at packet pickup for race day gear check. First-timers Commemorative Bib Is this your first marathon or half marathon ever? We want to celebrate with you! Stop by the Athlete Hospitality Booth at the Expo to pick up your commemorative bib (while supplies last) and a special gift from Publix. Official Race Poster Was your favorite poster chosen as the 2015 Official Race Poster? Score your complimentary copy at the Athlete Hospitality Booth at the Expo (while supplies last). Solutions Desk For any registration changes or problems during packet pickup, please go to the Solutions Desk at the Expo. The Solutions Desk can assist with correcting registration information such as age, gender or spelling of your name. No changes will be made to estimated finish time or start corral. Race Category Changes Race category change includes switching from one race distance to the other. For example, you are registered for the marathon, but would like to do the half marathon. Fees will apply for switching up to the marathon or half marathon. There is no fee to switch down to the half marathon or 5K and there is no refund in the price difference. If you would like to change races, please pick up your assigned packet and then proceed to the Solutions Desk. Race Day Information Please arrive early to allow plenty of time for traffic, parking and arriving at the Start Line. Wheelchair Half Marathon Start Time: 6:55 a.m. Full and Half Marathon Start Time: 7:00 a.m. 5K Start Time: 7:30 a.m. The start line is located on Marietta St., south of International Blvd. and adjacent to the CNN Center. ALL participants are assigned to corrals by pace, with qualifying elite and seeded runners in Corral A and B, followed by the next fastest runners in Corral C and so on through Coral M. Please refer to our Start Line and Venue map for additional corral and event details. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the courses prior to race day: • Full and half marathon map • 5K map We encourage all participants to take MARTA on race morning to avoid traffic delays due to race related street closures. MARTA will begin special race day rail service one hour earlier than usual on Sunday morning (5:00 a.m.) in order to get runners and spectators to the start line at Centennial Olympic Park. Parking Details If you plan to drive to the start/finish area, please carpool and allow significant extra time to drive, park and walk to the start area. Try to arrive downtown by 6:00 a.m. We suggest using one of the following parking locations for convenience to the race: 1. Underground Atlanta parking deck #1 – Turn right from MLK immediately after Central Ave. (Open 24 hours, daily fee $3) 2. Underground Atlanta parking deck #2 – Turn right from MLK immediately after Pryor St. (Open 24 hours, daily fee $3) 3. CNN parking deck – From MLK, turn right on Centennial Olympic Park Dr., turn right into CNN parking deck (Opens at 5:30 a.m., daily fee $10) 4. Centennial Parking Deck – From MLK Dr. turn Right on Centennial Olympic Park Dr., turn right into Centennial Parking which is immediately past the CNN deck. (Open 24 hours, daily fee $5) 5. GA Dome Red deck – From MLK, turn right on Centennial Olympic Park Dr., turn left into Andrew Young International, turn right into Red Deck. (Opens at 5:00 a.m., daily fee $10, you can reserve and prepay parking HERE) For a detailed parking and driving map, please CLICK HERE. Course Support There will be 19 aid stations staffed by enthusiastic volunteers. Each aid station will provide water, PowerAde, portable restrooms and medical assistance. Throughout the course there will also be Neighborhood Cheering Zones to entertain you along the way. Volunteer groups at aid stations and groups that have setup a Neighborhood Cheering Zone are vying for award grants for their favorite non-profits and YOU are the judge. In the post-race online survey you will be asked to vote for your favorite aid station and Cheering Zone. Course Food There will be seven unique food stations strategically located throughout the course to keep you energized throughout the race. All food stations will be located just before a hydration station. All seven food stations are located on the full marathon course, while two of the stations also overlap with the half marathon course. Get ready to enjoy bananas, oranges, jelly beans, cookies and peanut butter-filled pretzels throughout your run. Remember: Please eat and run responsibly. Pace Teams Whether you’re looking for a PR or just to finish with a smile, register to be a part of the pace group of your choice. No charge to participate. Stop by the Athlete Hospitality Booth at the Expo for more info or to sign up. Back of the Pack The Back of the Pack Team is an enthusiastic team of volunteers at the back of both the marathon and half marathon that maintain the 15 minute pace for the full and 18 minute pace for the half after which the streets must reopen. For participants at the back of the race, the Back of the Pack Team provides steady pacing and encouragement. For half marathoners who fall behind the 18 minute pace on the half marathon only course, the options are (1) continue on the sidewalk or (2) ride the SAG Wagon to the merge of the marathon and half marathon at half marathon mile 10.5 in order to finish the race. Participants who ride the SAG Wagon can cross the finish line and receive their medal, food and all other runner amenities, but do not receive a finish time. Enjoy multiple bands, DJs and cheer groups throughout the course, and get ready to celebrate at the post race party with the best in rock n’ roll, dance and funk with the Scott Walker Band on the finish line stage in Centennial Olympic Park! Race Results Race results will be available from the Results tent in the post-race party area and will update regularly throughout the morning. Each athlete will notice a QR code printed on their race bib. Results will be updated regularly online throughout the day. Simply download a QR reader to your phone, scan your QR code with your smart phone and you will be taken directly to your personalized results page! Live Results Text Messaging Receive and send alerts every time you cross a timing mat. CLICK HERE to sign up for free! Awards Age group awards will be shipped directly to winners following the race. Custom designed plaques will be awarded 3 deep to males and females in each the following divisions: Age 14 and under and 15-19 (5K only) and 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+ for the full and half marathon. Gear Check Gear check is located within Centennial Olympic Park in the northwest corner. Access to gear check is off Baker Street or Centennial Olympic Park Dr. Gear Check will be available on race day starting at 5:30 a.m. All gear should be dropped off at the Gear Check prior to race start and will be available for pick up until 2:00 p.m. Please use the gear check tag on your bib to help identify your bag from everyone else’s bags. Additional gear bags will be available at packet pickup and at the gear check tent on race morning. Don’t forget to pick up your gear after the race before you leave – gear left behind will be donated to local charities. Event Status System An Event Status System will be displayed at each mile marker indicating the status of the race based on the current weather conditions. There will be a simple color-based warning system. GREEN FLAG: Proceed as normal. YELLOW FLAG: CAUTION - Slow down, use caution and drink plenty of water. RED FLAG: EXTREME CAUTION - Slow down, use extreme caution and drink plenty of water due to dangerous weather conditions. Timing of the event has stopped and no awards will be issued. BLACK FLAG: STOP - Seek shelter immediately in the event of a weather emergency. The race has been cancelled due to extreme conditions or course emergency such as lightning, tornado or human disaster. Looking for a Hotel?
