To participate in the final performances at the end of the 2nd + 4th week on July 17 and 31, it is mandatory
to attend 2 or 4 weeks and take one or several repertory and creative classes: variations and/or partnering
(Ballet), or Graham repertory, composition or acting (Contemporary).
3 periods are possible:
--- July, 6 to 17 --- July, 20 to 31 --- July, 6 to 31 ---
Although, it is recommended to attend the workshop for 2 or 4 weeks, (required for participating in performances).
students can also attend one, two or three weeks of their choice.
COMPOSE YOUR OWN PERSONALIZED PROGRAM
Depending on your level in each discipline, and according to your desire, you can compose your very own
program that best matches your aspirations (subject to acceptance by the teachers of your level).
SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR BOYS IN ADVANCED/PRE-PRO LEVEL
Several scholarships are available for male dancers at advanced pre-pro level, under conditions of resources
and acceptation of application file.
Please join your motivation letter and a resume including at least 2 photos and a videolink (solo). File must be less than
1Mb.
SPECIAL INTEREST OF THE WORKSHOP
This intensive summer dance workshop offers young dancers a technically rich program, the discovery of
Martha Graham repertory, composition classes, Balanchine repertory with partnering and variations and final
presentations.
The workshop is based on the two main dance techniques: Ballet and Graham (the base of contemporary
dance). Combining these two complementary techniques gives today's dancers the perfect preparation for an
international career with today’s major choreographers.
For all dancers who want to:

acquire a brilliant style and virtuosity, increase their technical skills, creativity and stage experience
increase their knowledge in Ballet and benefit from the improvements of Balanchine technique
increase their knowledge in Graham technique to more easily deal with the other techniques
prepare for auditioning for PARIS MARAIS DANCE SCHOOL, the MARTHA GRAHAM SCHOOL in NYC or for
international dance schools/universities or dance companies
 discover the benefits of combining the two great techniques: Ballet and Graham
and enjoy a beautiful week dancing in Paris, in a historical 17th c. building in the heart of cultural Paris (metro
Hôtel de Ville) next to Pompidou Center.

Iconic dancer of the years 1970 - 1980, Michael Denard danced on the biggest stages in the
world and had the greatest ballerinas partners such Ghislaine Thesmar, Natalia Bessmertnova,
Ekaterina Maximova, Natalia Makarova or Sylvie Guillem. He created during his career many
ballets and first roles in choreographies by Maurice Béjart (which, in 1979, offers his creation
of the Firebird), Jerome Robbins, Merce Cunningham, Patrice Bart, Roland Petit Alvin Ailey.
He is invited in such prestigious companies as the American Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre
and the Mariinsky Theatre.
From 1993 to 1996, he was appointed director of the Staatsoper Ballet Berlin.

performing participants will receive a certificate.
NOTE: All parents and close friends are invited to participate in this celebration of dance. All participants to the
summer intensive program, floor barre included, are of course invited to attend the performance.

You may have different levels in ballet, contemporary and Graham. There are separate classes for every level.
Level adjustments: all participants will be verified on their level each Monday and, when necessary, will be transferred to
the level where they have the best chance to advance.
In case of price change due to the change of level, the difference will be refunded.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - REGULATIONS








All classes are taught in English and French
Ensure your registration now by sending your registration and your tuition fee. Conversion & commission for wire
transfer are at your own expense.
All classes take place at the “Centre de danse du Marais”. The 12 € membership fee of the Marais Dance Center
is obligatory (valid for 1 year, insurance included and 10% reduction for many dance stores).
The workshop is open to teenagers aged 12+, young adults and adults. Contemporary classes are accessible from
age 14. Advanced/pro classes and acting classes are accessible from age 16.
All persons entering the workshop agree to be certified by a qualified doctor to be in good health, allowing them
to enter an intensive professional dance workshop. The teachers may request a certificate in case of doubt.
The management and teachers cannot be held responsible for any theft, loss and for any damages or injury caused
or suffered by all persons, including students and or parents accompanying them at the Marais Dance Center.
Students are asked to take all their belongings (clothes, shoes, bags) with them into the studios.
Management and faculty reserve the right to make changes in the regulations, the program of the workshop or to
cancel in case of force majeure. Possible changes will be posted on the website www.paris-marais-danceschool.org
Registration will be affected upon receipt of the completed and signed registration
form including parental consent for minors, and payment of the total tuition fee.

Tuition fee for the workshop is non-refundable and non-transferable.

The workshop is not open to public, no spectators will be allowed. Parents and close
friends are welcome to attend the final presentation.

By signing underneath, the participant agrees that the workshop management or any
person authorized by the management (reporter, photographer) can take pictures and
videos during classes and presentation. The participant gives up his/her rights to these
images. Images will be used for promoting workshops and school managed by Maggie
Boogaart and Ghislain de Compreignac only.


center of Paris in July. However, we do not interfere in your search.

Paris, in studio or on location (for example the Eiffel tower!).
