across Australia and internationally each year.
Position Description
We are seeking a Production & Touring Manager. This is a 12-month fixed term/maternity leave
position.
The Production & Touring Manager reports to the Executive Director and liaises closely with the
Artistic Director. The Production & Touring Manager is responsible for supervising the technical
and production staff and all production activities and contributes substantially to the company’s
scheduling.
The Production & Touring Manager is responsible for managing the planning and
implementation of all production requirements relating to the presentation and operation of
Bangarra productions. Central to this position is the role of coordination and liaison from the
contractual stage to completion of projects by set, costume and lighting designer and venue
managements.
The Production & Touring Manager is also responsible for managing the requirements of the
Company when on national, regional and international tours including assisting the company’s
management with stakeholder relations.

Areas of Responsibility
Production
The Production & Touring Manager will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of production
from concept to realization on stage working closely with choreographers, designers,
composers and the Company’s Rehearsal Director. Particular duties include:

Develop production budgets as required in liaison with the Executive Director and the
Manager, Finance & Operations
Manage and control relevant budgets providing accurate and timely information to the
Manager, Finance & Operations and Executive Director
Formation of production schedules for all of the Company’s performance seasons and
related activity
Oversee construction of sets, props & costumes to designers’ specification
Document and archive all correspondence, designs, venue specifications and show
paperwork relating to Bangarra productions
In association with the Executive Director and Artistic Director recruit and oversee
production staff required for each production/tour and any other production staff both full
time and contracted as required
Liaise with venue management regarding Bangarra productions
Liaise with production companies, event producers & venue management regarding
Bangarra corporate performances
Communicate and enforce safety and building regulations including Occupational Health
& Safety
Oversee purchase, maintenance and operation of video, lighting and sound equipment
required for Bangarra rehearsals and performances
Oversee safe storage and maintenance of Bangarra sets, props, costumes & equipment
relating to Bangarra shows
Oversee safe storage of Bangarra’s soundtracks & archival performance and rehearsal
videos.
Touring
The Production & Touring Manager will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the
Company’s Touring program, with the Company Manager, including the touring Company’s
travel arrangements and management of touring expenditure. Particular duties include:

Develop touring budgets in conjunction with the Manager, Finance & Operations
Manage and control relevant budgets providing accurate and timely information about
touring expenses to the Manager, Finance & Operations
Oversee all required freight within Australia and internationally, including carnet
applications and transfers
Ensure the Company operates according to the requirements of the Live Performance
Australia Award, OH&S legislation and all other legislation governing workplace
operations

When required, manage the booking of all company accommodation and transport
including airfares, hire vehicles, cab charges and coach transfers
Planning and Administration
•

Liaise with venue’s regarding future performance dates and venue agreements in
conjunction with the Executive Director and Artistic Director
Contribute to annual and project budgets for funding applications and overall Bangarra
management
Ensure regular updating of the Bangarra Line Schedule and distribution across the
company
Undertake research and reconnaissance as part of Bangarra’s planning and
programming cycle

Ensure that Bangarra maintains good venue relationships in order to secure favourable
venue bookings across both capital city venues and regional venues
Ensure the smooth delivery of the logistics of Bangarra’s touring program
