Mobility is the buzzword...
Mobility is the key driver today of businesses across
the world. It has gained the role of determining the
effectiveness of the process of acquiring, retaining
and upselling to the customer. Mobile, cloud, social
media, and analytics are the tools in this environment of
mobility. It is also a prime driver of market differentiation,
business growth, innovation, adaptability, collaboration
and profitability. In short, every business is now a digital
business, and those who understand the relevance of
mobility wins the end game. According to studies more
than 70% of enterprises believe mobility is a top priority
for their business and as much as 65% believe it to be
the greatest factor in helping their organization gain a
competitive advantage.
So today, devices like smart phones, tablets and phablets
are simply unavoidable in today’s business scenario. There
are numerous case studies showing enterprises making
great strides in customer engagement using mobility. While
mobility unveils unlimited opportunities, the challenges it
poses are manifold, right from infrastructure to uniformity
of platforms to multiplicity of devices to security concerns
to threat protection.
It is a challenge for enterprises to frame and implement a
mobility strategy that can encompass the entire ecosystem.
It is in this context that Customer Click has conceptualized
‘Mobility Click’, an integrated approach to identify and
understand the key factors that would constitute any
strategy on mobility.
Key Research Findings
Priority for mobility
solutions:
A recent study by IDG Direct done
for Unisys Corporation indicated
that implementing mobilitybased programs has benefitted
organizations. “53% of respondents
say mobility has enabled them to
create new customer channels and
enhance customer interactions.
Slightly more than half (51%) of
respondents say that mobility
has enabled their organizations
to redefine business processes
by allowing mobile access to
information. In addition, 50% of
respondents say that they have
been able to enhance existing
products with mobile capabilities.
Bank transaction costs:
According to studies by PNC
Financial Services Group, the
average cost of a transaction
using an online or mobile device
is 56 cents and 59 cents at an
ATM, compared with $3.97 when
a customer transacts with a bank
teller.
CEOs take initiative:
An Accenture Mobility Insights
Report 2014 titled ‘Mobility: Fueling
the Digital Surge’ showed that
in 87% of companies covered by
the study, mobility initiatives have
been guided by a formal mobility
strategy - either one that spans the
enterprise or strategies developed
for specific business units or
functions. “Importantly, mobility is
close to the chief executive heart
in 35% of companies, where the
CEO plays a role in mobility strategy
development,” it pointed out.
In manufacturing
sector:
Gartner has said manufacturers will
adopt mobility to gain 3 primary
benefits:
(1) to increase the productivity of
their workforce via their employees’
mobile devices;
(2) to influence consumer behavior
in the marketplace for their goods
via consumers’ mobile devices; and
(3) to produce higher - value ‘smart’
products via embedded mobile
computing and communications
functions to capture governmentmandated and emerging
commercial demands.
Automotive market to
mobility market:
A Rapid Value research report
on the impact of mobility on the
automobile industry says: “The
market might get transformed from
an automotive market to a mobility
one. Effective mobility services
for the automobile industry will,
definitely, help to shape tomorrow’s
world. Future mobility concepts,
functions and performance, for the
vehicle, will, majorly, depend upon
the technological, economical,
ecological and political trends. The
automotive industry is all set to
provide its customers extensive and
innovative mobility options for their
vehicles, in the coming days.”
Mobility and
healthcare:
A Booz Allen Hamilton report
mentions that: “The explosion
of new devices and applications
focused on healthcare solutions is
resulting in mHealth - a term used
for the practice of medical and
public health, supported by mobile
devices.”
Beneficial for health
service providers:
Enterprise Mobility Exchange
predicts that with the number of
people using healthcare apps
forecast to reach up to 500 million
in 2015, it is becoming clear that
drivers such as time efficiency
and patient engagement are very
beneficial, and crucial components
for wider adoption of mHealth.
