Referees/Coaches/ Players Meeting
There will a meeting at 9am Thursday March 26th that all referees, coaches and players must attend to go
over the rules of 3X3.
Score Bench
Your team will be rostered to do score bench duty. Please provide three competent score bench personnel
for your duty. Every effort will be made to assist teams when able. As Hosts we do not have the
capabilities to provide for every game. Please be respectful of these requests. A roster will be sent to all
teams prior to the start of the tournament.
Score Sheets
Please come to the Tournament Control Booth to fill out your first score sheet. Please ensure that all
players are listed on this score sheet as they will be checked against team rosters and no further changes
will be allowed to players named. All further score sheets will be completed for your team and can be
located at the control booth. Please inform the tournament organisers if player numbers are to be changed
during the tournament. Once a team’s first game commences, only those players listed on the scoresheet
for the first game may participate in the remainder of that Tournament as players. [BBNZ Internal
Regulations F1.5].

Please ensure that all your players are registered with the BBNZ office and are eligible to compete in the
tournament and that all players comply with NZSSSC rules and regulations.

Draw
BBNZ cannot guarantee that team requests will be catered for in the draw, but have tried to accommodate
where possible. Please be aware, as there are many teams making similar requests not all could be
fulfilled.
A reminder that forfeits or not playing scheduled games will incur a $500 penalty, as per the BBNZ Internal
Regulations.

Seeding/Pools
As this is the second year of the slam and with the inclusion of the Junior Grades there will be partial
seeding where we can in the Senior Boys and Girls grades. Junior Boys will be seeded randomly and the
Junior Girls are in 1 pool.
Senior Boys
First Round: 4 pools (1 pool of 6 3 pools of 7) Round Robin
Second Round:
 Top 8 (1st and 2nd from each pool)
 Middle 8 (3rd and 4th from each pool)
 Bottom 11 (top 5 pool A bottom 6 pool B – ranked on points differential from pool play)
Third Round: Playoff and placing games,
 1-4 semi/final/3rd-4th playoff
 5 - 8 semi/final/7th-8th playoff
 9-12 semi/9th-10th 11th-12th playoff
 13 - 16 semi/13th-14th 15th-16th playoff
 17th – 26th playoff 27th team bye
Senior Girls
First Round: 2 Pools of 7 Round Robin.

Times
The first round starts at 9.40am each day (please be wary of Auckland traffic) and the final round will be
played at 3.40pm each day.
Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony with commence after the final game on Saturday 28th March

Disputes Procedure
In the unlikely event of a dispute the procedure is: the team captain is to sign the bottom of the score sheet
in the box provided within 20 minutes of the completion of the game. The team then has one hour to lodge
a written report and pay a bond payment of $100 to the Tournament Director. A Judicial Committee will be
assembled to consider the dispute. The Judicial Committee is made up of three members – Technical
Commissioner, Tournament Director, and the BBNZ Representative. If the Committee rules in favour of the
dispute, then the bond will be refunded to the team.
Important Details

Forfeit of Game - $500 fine.

Uniforms – Colours and Alternatives; in the event of a clash Team A is to wear their light coloured
uniforms and Team B is to wear their dark coloured uniforms unless both teams come to a mutual
agreement.
 The Slam will use BBNZ Internal Regulations, Official FIBA 3X3 Basketball Rules of the Game with
outlined amendment made by Basketball New Zealand and NZSSC Regulations and Eligibility.

Evacuation
If the building needs to be evacuated please leave through the front doors and assemble in the car park by
the Assembly Point.

Trusts Arena has a Canteen situated in the foyer area.
Alcohol Free Tournament
This is an alcohol free tournament. No alcohol allowed into the Stadiums.

Rubbish
Please be considerate and ensure your team removes any rubbish from the bench at the end of your
game. Changing rooms – please do not leave rubbish in the changing rooms and please leave in a tidy
state for other teams.
