The registration fee is $350.00 for Batesville Community School Corporation residents and $400.00 for non-residents. The driving fee for on-line students is $310.00. The first session will only be for students attending Batesville High School. Each class is limited to 45 students. If space is available, students not attending BHS but live in Batesville Community School Corporation can request to be placed on a waiting list for session I. The driving fee for students taking on-line class is $310.00. Students taking an on-line course must bring their enrollment verification for the on-line course as well as complete the attached registration form. Both forms must be returned with payment by the deadline. Attendance at the parent meeting is required. Registration forms are due to Mrs. Alice Raver at the BHS Office by May 8, 2015 The complete registration fee is due at the time of registration. Registrations will not be accepted after the due date. Students registering for the Summer Session must be 15 years of age by June 1, 2015 for Session I, & June 22, 2015 for Session II. ***Students will be accepted on a “first come – first served” basis. ONLY 45 per session. Students who were in Middle School during 2014-2015 school year will be in Session II. If you have questions, contact Mr. Randy Records or Mrs. Alice Raver at BHS at 934-4384. The classroom portion of the program will be held on weekdays at Batesville High School in Room F-106. Driving times will be after class and during the third week. Some Session II drivers may drive during Session I class time. The classroom portion will be from 7:55 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday thru Friday on the following days: Session I - June 1 – June 19, 2015 Class instruction June 1-June 12. Driving Instruction June 15-19. Session II – June 22- July 10 2015 Class Instruction June 22 – July 3. Driving Instruction July 6-10. PLEASE NOTE: ** Driving times may not be completed for Session I students until July, and for Session II students until August. ACTIVITIES: Any student who is involved in summer activities should take the next session (Fall 2015). Due to requirements concerning classroom time (30 hours), it is imperative that the student attends all classes. ATTENDANCE: Students who are absent from a classroom session for any reason must take the missed class period during the next session. Students who are absent from a driving session must contact their driving instructor to schedule make–up driving time. The driving permit will not be signed until the entire program is completed. An administrative fee may be charged for make-up test grading. A MANDATORY STUDENT/PARENT MEETING will be held on Tuesday May 12, 2015 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the BHS CAFETERIA. Forms for permits will be distributed at that time. The student’s driving schedule will also be available. (Parents are asked to bring their calendar/planner with them.) Students unable to attend the meeting will be required to make up the hour. Parents unable to attend the meeting will be required to attend the first 2 hour class session. Each student has the responsibility to arrive prepared and on time for every class without such distractions as cell phones, and/or any electronic devices that may interfere with instruction. 2. Each student has the responsibility to be attentive and actively participate in every class. 3. Each parent and student has the responsibility to refrain from seeking a driver education completion certificate without first completing the required course work. NOTE: Failure to complete the course in its entirety will result in the learner’s permit being invalid. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles will accept a completed learner’s permit showing the grades and proof of completion or a letter on the driving school letterhead stating the grades in classroom and behind-the-wheel. 4. Each student has the responsibility to treat the instructor and all others in the class with courtesy and respect. 5. Each student has the responsibility to respect the property of the driving school. 6. Each student has the responsibility to drive safely and in accordance with all laws, regulations and directions from the instructor. 7. Each parent has the responsibility to refrain from interfering with the instruction, classroom, or driving, while the class is in session. 8. Each parent has the responsibility to take an active role in his or her child’s driver education by monitoring all progress, communicating with the driving school, and/or instructor, and practicing with their student driver if they have a learner’s permit. 9. Each parent and student has the responsibility to attempt to alert the owner or manager of the driving school of problems or complaints before contacting an outside agency. 10. Each student has the responsibility to promptly pay the driving school for the driver education class in accordance with the procedures in place at the school. 11. Each student has the responsibility of knowing that if the learner’s permit expires; all the privileges expire with it. The student will be required to obtain a learner’s permit and will not be eligible for an operator license until the age of 16 years and 270 days of age. This statement of Rights and Responsibilities must be read and signed by the student, parent, and a school representative upon enrollment in the course. A copy of the statement must be given to the student/parent and the original kept in the school files. Each student has the right to a certified competent instructor, knowledgeable about the curriculum and traffic safety issues. 2. Each student has the right to be taught the entire 30 clock hours of classroom instruction in an informative, interesting, and challenging manner. 3. Each student has the right to experience the full 6 clock hours of driving instruction as required in the curriculum. 4. Each student has the right to be treated in a courteous, civil, and respectful manner. 5. Each student has the right to attend class in a clean, secure, fully equipped classroom that meets the local fire and building codes, and the BMV requirements. 6. Each student has the right to perform their driving in a vehicle that is clean, safe, and fully functional under Indiana law and BMV requirements. 7. Each student and parent has the right to see the school and instructor license and certification. 8. Each parent has the right to observe any class session, including in-car, in which his or her child is included. (Subject to practical limits in classroom or vehicle space, the parent must not intervene nor interfere while the class or driving session is in progress.) 9. The parent and student have the right to have the driver education program, including both the 30 clock hours of classroom and 6 clock hours of behind the wheel instruction, completed in no less than 16 calendar days and no more than 120 days of the first day the course commences. (This can only be waived upon written agreement of the student or the parent of a minor student.) 10. The parent and student have the right to place a complaint with the BMV regarding problems associated with a driving school or instructor.
