(These types can be combined as desired.) Materials: Plain and with pocket: • 30 meters of yarn that measures about 110 to 120 yards (100 to 110 m) pr. 50 g. (Light sport weight or heavy sock weight yarn.) Double: • 60 meters of yarn that measures about 110 to 120 yards (100 to 110 m) pr. 50 g. (Light sport weight or heavy sock weight yarn.) All types: • If you want to use a contrasting color, as in the picture of the cozy with pocket, a small amount of yarn in the contrasting color • 3 mm (US size 2) knitting needles, use your favorite, for instance circular or double pointed. • Darning needle Yarns: Both the cozies without pockets in the pictures on the front page were made with a woolen yarn called Silja in the color way 309. Silja is 80% wool and 20% nylon. The cozy with a pocket and a contrast color was made with a yarn called Muskat in the color ways 41 bordeaux and 03 mint green. Muskat is 100% cotton. The cozy with a green pocket and cross band has the rows on the cross band in he same direction as the rows on the cozy. • Cast on 17 stitches. • Knit for 3 cm (1.2 inches). • Cast off. Pocket: • Cast on 10 stitches. • Knit for 3 cm (1.2 inches). • Cast off. Assembly: Weave in all ends. Sew the two ends of the cozy together, edge to edge, to make a circle. Do not twist. Now sew the cross band together edge to edge over the seam on the cozy making the main part squash together to give the appearance of a bow. Fasten the cross band to the cozy so it does not slide or the cross band turns its seam outward. If you have made a pocket, sew it onto the cozy as shown in the picture on the front page. Enjoy your new coffee cozy. The double cozy The cozy front: • Cast on 17 stitches. • Continue in stockinette stitch until your work measures 23.5 cm (9.3 inches). • Cast off. Weave in all ends. Sew the back and front of the cozy together along both the long sides with the smooth sides of the stockinette stitch facing each other. Squish the front cozy slightly together as it is a little longer than the back. This will make cozy into a prettier circle. Turn the resulting tube inside out and sew the two short sides together edge to edge, making a circle. Now sew the cross band together edge to edge over the seam on the cozy making the main part squash together to give the appearance of a bow. Fasten the cross band to the cozy so it does not slide or the cross band turns it seam outward. If you have made a pocket, sew it onto the cozy as shown in the picture on the front page.
