This year the Vocational Student Organizations (VSO)’s throughout our building have
decided to work in collaboration on their spring community service project. This year the VSO’s
have decided to support Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). MADD locally is having a
Walk Like MADD event at North Park that our VSO’s will be supporting.
On Tuesday March 24th, we will be having a MADD Spring Service Kickoff presentation.
The presentation will be two parts. The first part will be a Victim Impact Panel in which 2
members of MADD, including an alum, will give details of how drunk driving impacted their life.
This will be a powerful, yet respectful message that we feel is important to the students of A.W.
Beattie Career Center. Following that will be information to gather support for MADD’s Walk
Like MADD event on April 26, 2015 at North Park.

While we at A.W. Beattie Career Center believe that this information is important for
our students and will be presented in a manner suitable for high school students, we certainly
understand that some may not wish their student to participate in this event. If would like for
your student to not participate in this event, another area with supervision will be provided.
