Wonderful
Working Bee
A huge thanks to
all of the students,
parents and
teachers who
attended the
working bee on
Friday. It was
amazing to see
how much the
group achieved in
a single afternoon.
The gardens look
fantastic and there
are new plants
along the walkway to the
hall which will look great as
visitors arrive at our school.
Special thanks to Mr Sutton
and Mrs Hill for
coordinating the working
bee.

Stage 3 Off to Camp
The excitement of camp was visible as the students arrived this
morning and were ferried away. We wish them all the best for
their week and hope that Mr Haddon, Mrs McAuliffe and Mr
Sutton can manage a few hours sleep here and there.
Berry Reins as Rugby League Champions
Last Friday was a wonderful day of rugby league and flag
football in Nowra for over 60 students in our junior and senior
teams.
Berry Public School made a clean sweep of the day, winning
both the Macgregor Shield and the Wishart Shield. I was lucky
enough to coach the two junior boys’ teams to absolutely trounce
all comers to win both pools and meet in the final, demonstrating
the depth of talent that we have in the teams.
The Girls’ teams played flag football and also had an incredibly
successful day. One team went through the competition
undefeated, while the other team had a try disallowed and
narrowly lost 1-0 to Cambewarra. What stood out overall
throughout the day was the sportsmanship and cohesiveness of
our students and they should be very proud of their efforts.
Thanks to Mr Haddon for managing the teams and to all of our
wonderfully supportive parents.
In late mail, Will Salmon, Olaf Muller and Callum Johnson also
made the district Rugby League team, congratulations boys!
We have the Keys!
The new classroom has been
installed and the final inspection
and handover was completed last
week. We are now
just waiting for the
furniture to arrive
and Miss
Marshman’s class
will be able to
move in.
We have to thank
the DEC Asset
management Team
and JOSS for
moving so quickly
on the installation
this term.

Languages Survey
The inclusion of a language has been requested by some parents
at Berry Public School and we are exploring the demand for such
classes and possible options for implementation. There are
multiple possibilities so if you are interested in your child
attending a language class, please complete the 2 minute survey
at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/bps_language
Thanks in advance.
Messages From The Office
When sending in permission notes (eg the Jack Flash
Performance), please do one note per class teacher. Notes are
processed and stamped at the office then returned to class
teachers to retain. These notes and money can be sent together in
one envelope to school.

Over the last few
weeks many senior
children have been
trying out for
various South
Coast Sporting
Teams.
We have Christian
Page going
through trials for
the South coast
Tennis Team and
has only just
missed out on a
spot. At the same
time Hunter Lynch
has been trialling in
AFL and although
he did not make the final team he played some excellent games in
the trials.
This week five children will be attempting to make the final team
in girls and boys football. Millie Eyland, Bridee Lewis, Abbey
Crapp, Felix Greenwood and Christian Page will have to leave
camp in the middle of next week for trials and we wish them
every success.

Seeking Class Parent
Representatives….
A few years ago, we introduced a system of “Class
Parents” and the P&C is keen to continue to “grow”
this idea. Having a Class Parent facilitates parents
from each class have a network to exchange ideas,
information and get to know each other.

How does it work?
•
•
•
1/2D
Each class will have one Class Parent
The Class Parent is parent of a child in that class
The Class Parent takes the role on for the school
year
The Class Parent acts as a conduit of information
for other parents in that class to or from the P&C,
teachers and other parents.

4/5H
5/6Mc
5/6S
What does the Class Parent role involve?
•
•
•
Ideally, the Class Parent would collect and
maintain a list of contact details / email address of
other parents in the
class OR establish a
Facebook Group
(which is a secure,
invitation only
group), which was a
great way for parents
to share ideas,
information and
pictures with each
other.
Please note, that this is not a way of
communicating with the class teacher, but the class
teacher may ask the Class Parent to disseminate
information to the group.
If they want to, the Class Parent could help
organise social activities that could involve
families from that class, year or stage. e.g. A class
BBQ or other schools with class parents have
mother / daughter and father / son campouts
If you are a parent of a class without a Class Parent,
please think about doing this easy and fun role by
getting in touch with me. I am happy to assist in setting
up Facebook groups or in any way that I can.
