BEST 4 ELLs Grant & Training “Teacher to Teacher” Approach The BEST 4 ELLs Grant was funded in May of 2012 to develop bilingual and ESL teachers, particularly in the areas of Science and Math instruction. The summer academy is for in-service teachers. The academy’s approach for this Bilingual teachers will receive training on “transfer to English” and Guided Reading this year. They will participate in sessions that include classroo m st rat egie s wit h an opportunity to share effective instruction “teacher to teacher.” There will be no separate ESL sessions this year. Some instruction will be delivered in Spanish. for bilingual classrooms. The BEST 4 ELLs grant also offers scholarship and book money for graduates and undergraduates who wish to pursue degrees related to bilingual and ELS Education.
