If you are a high school senior planning to attend college or a current college student who will be continuing their undergraduate studies in the fall of 2015, you are eligible to enter our sweepstakes. One winner will be chosen every two weeks. • Registration begins September 15th and first drawing will be held on October 31st • Free to enter and eligibility not based on GPA or financial need • One entry per drawing, but students can register again for each drawing period • Checks made payable to winner's college of attendance Ayn Rand Essay Scholarships - http://www.aynrand.org/contests/ October 2014-April 2015 The Ayn Rand Institute sponsors annual essay contests that offer 500 prizes and over $80,000 in prize money every year. The Brian Jordan Foundation Scholarship May 4, 2015 http://www.brianjordanfoundation.com/scholarship-program.html The criteria used for selecting recipients are as follows: • A high school senior, accepted to a four year accredited college or university • A grade point average of 2.75 during junior and senior years • An essay on why they should become the recipient of the Brian Jordan Scholarship, with a minimum of 250 words • Three letters of reference, from non-relatives • Financial information for need determination Consideration that will aid the decision: • Leadership skills inside and outside of school • Academic club(s) membership • Social, religious organization(s) membership • Band, sports, etc (extra curricula activity involvement) • Job(s) / Work experience Local Scholarships: Buford Lanier Woman’s Club Scholarship April 30, 2015 This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving young lady who will be graduating from Buford High School in 2015. Buford Youth Cheerleading Association Scholarship May 1, 2015 Any Buford High School senior who participated in the BYCA for a minimum of one full season may apply. Please see Miss Collins for the application and essay instructions. Buford Youth Football Association Scholarship May 2, 2015 Any Buford High School senior who played football with the BYFA for at least one season may compete for these funds. Any student NOT receiving a full scholarship is eligible. Please see Miss Collins for application. GBAA Scholarship May 1, 2015 http://files.leagueathletics.com/Text/Documents/2958/42030.pdf The Greater Buford Athletic Association shall provide scholarship funds, $500 for Softball applicants and $500 for baseball applicants, per year toward the education costs at an accredited college, university or technical school. The GBAA Board will consider criteria including academic ability, performance, extracurricular activities, awards and work experience. Leadership abilities will be a major consideration in awarding this scholarship. Any Buford High School senior who played softball or baseball with the GBAA for at least one season may apply for these funds. Any student already receiving a full scholarship is NOT eligible. Judy Perkins Memorial Scholarship May 10, 2015 This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating student-athlete of Buford High School. Candidates will be considered for this scholarship based on leadership, integrity, character and school spirit. See Miss Collins for the application. Buford Lions Club May 13, 2015 Four $300 scholarships are available. Must have participated in a school sponsored music/arts program or school sponsored sports program. Please see Miss Collins for the application. Steve Merritt Memorial Scholarship May 14, 2015 This scholarship is awarded to a senior who embodies the spirit of Steve Merritt. Steve loved life and lived it abundantly. He loved and cared for those around him and had the ability to relate to all people. He was passionate about his faith, family, profession and the tradition of excellence associated with the city of Buford and Buford City Schools. This scholarship honors a senior who exhibits service to others, loyalty, respect, commitment, school and community pride and enthusiasm in all aspects of life. School Specific Scholarships: Bryan Scholarship to the Georgia Institute of Technology April 30, 2015 This scholarship is available to any senior male student who will be graduating high school and will be attending Georgia Institute of Technology. It will be awarded to the young man who best exemplifies the ideals of our fraternity as demonstrated by Brother Bethel in a lifetime of service to those ideals. Beta Theta Pi Men of Principle Scholarship - http://www.gtbeta.org/rush/mps/ August 10, 2015 Beta Theta Pi is a men’s fraternity dedicated to developing men of principle for a principled life, and we are offering the Men of Principle Scholarship this semester of $500 to undergraduate non-Greek men who are enrolling at Georgia Institute of Technology in the Fall of 2015.
