Please look around your house for any books that belong to our class library.
Everything will be getting packed away next week!
This week
We had another wonderful week! The 5th graders presented their Wax Museum projects today and did a
great job! Next week is an equally full week, filled with end of year assessments, projects and fun!
Next Week
It is our last week!! The year has flown by. The students are so excited for project term but still need to
stay focused for assessments next week. The dismissal days for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next
week are 10:45 am.
Classroom Announcements
5th Grade Graduation
The 5th Grade Graduation will take place on May 14th (Thursday) at 6:00pm in The Sanctuary at Christ
Memorial Church. Please plan to arrive around 5:45 so that we can start promptly at 6:00pm. The
students should dress in formal attire for this special occasion.
This is a time for us to celebrate and honor the 5th graders for their many accomplishments in elementary
school. Every student will receive an award, so it is important that they all attend this event. There will
be treats and refreshments afterwards in The Forest at Christ Memorial. Please let me know if you have
any questions. Thank you!
4th grade history
The fourth graders wrapped up history this week learning about The Declaration of Independence.
5th grade history
The 5th graders have one more Civil War quiz bowl game next week, 1865. We are excited to see who
wins!?!
Science
This week got away from us in science, so next week we will be spending time at DeGraaf Nature Center
learning first hand about food webs and chains. The students have their group biomes projects due on
Wednesday next week.
Math
The final lessons of the year have been given! The students still have work due next week, however. We
are taking our end of the year assessments this week and next, so they need to stay focused!
Language Arts
This week we read Tar Beach in grammar. The students focused their attention on metaphors and similes.
In writing workshop the students wrote their introduction and 2 body paragraphs for their personal
essays. In reading workshop, students continue to read books in pairs for book clubs. Those will wrap up
next week.

Log and some ideas of book choices your way. Students will be able to create a paper chain at home this
summer- one link for every hour of reading.
Students will receive information about the Summer Reading Link Program before the end of the school
