The Local List
What does it mean to be a “local” in Brooklyn?
It isn’t really about your address. We believe
being a local is about appreciating the everyday
experiences that connect a community. Whether
you live here in BK or are just visiting to soak in
its rich, authentic culture, there’s plenty to
explore. From a world of restaurants to one-ofa-kind art galleries, Brooklyn is unlike any other
place on the map. This is our way of giving some
love to the local places that make this borough
so unique.
Airbnb has collected these neighborhood gems
from our Brooklyn host community and is proud
to feature them in The Local List, a limited-edition
map guide illustrated by Brooklyn–based artist
Josh Cochran. These destinations can enrich any
trip—whether that trip began next door or from
halfway around the globe. We hope you use this guide to discover (or rediscover) the inspiring community that is Brooklyn,
New York!
“I have my guests pick up the keys from
the shop (one block away) where I have
the staff ready to offer them some sundaes
or hot chocolates or whatever they’re in
the mood for after a day of traveling.”

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream
in Greenpoint
“When my guests go out and spend
at these local places, they are helping
the neighborhood economy.”
O’Dell Horton
“People come for pie and good coffee, but
it’s a great place to meet friends, family
or have a meeting. It’s very laid back and
has a local neighborhood vibe.”
